My
Favorite National Parks
While each park site is special in its own
way, some of them really stand out above the rest to me. My 10
favorites (and reasons why) are listed below.

Dinosaur
National Monument (10)
I'm a kid. Dinosaurs are cool! What more reason do you need?!

Saguaro
National Park (9)
I still can't believe the size and number of those cactus. The fact that the park is right there in a large metro area is pretty amazing, too.

Springfield
Armory National Historic Site (8)
This place just seemed to run over with history. The exhibits are cool and you get a real feel for the development of firearms and what they meant to U.S. history.

Devil's
Tower National Monument (7)
This thing is just so different from anything else in the area. Driving to it, you see it in the distance and try to figure it out. As you get closer, it seems as mysterious as ever. Someday, I would like to see the view from on top of Devil's Tower.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial (6)
I just am amazed by this place. The idea that one man could have such a dream and then be able to see it through just seems to stress to me how important one person can really be.

Acadia
National Park (5)
I visited this park early enough in my life for it to be the first place where I ever did any serious rock climbing. The view and sound and smell of the Atlantic Ocean from on top of those sea side rocks will always be one of my favorite memories. The ocean was awfully cold, though!

Redwood
National Park (4)
Those trees were huge!! I still have trouble getting my mind around their size. Walking through them gave me an idea of what ants might feel like.

Crater Lake
National Park (3)
This place is simply one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.

Jewel Cave
National Monument (2)
Caves are among my favorite things, and this is easily the best one I've ever visited. It is one of the longest in the world and has more special features than just about any other cave open to the public.

Yellowstone
National Park (1)
This one is what National Parks are all about. It is huge. It has amazing wildlife. It has a great river with a waterfall. It has a big lake. And IT'S a VOLCANO! The geysers and paint pots and steam vents are spectacular. Want a place like this in your backyard? All you need is the right combination of water , heat, and plumbing!
