ALBERT CURRY

Albert Earl Curry, manager of the Portland Yacht Club, died of a heart attack Wednesday in his Gresham home. He was 60.

Mr. Curry was born in Rockford, Ill., May 6th, 1922. He had lived in the Portland area since 1964. Before working for the yacht club, Mr. Curry was employed for seven years as bar manager for Poor Richard's Restaurant and worked many years for the Eddie Mays hotel chain. He worked for three years at the yacht club.
He joined the Navy in 1940 and survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor while serving aboard the USS Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1960. His many duties included a Company Commander at Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes and a recruiter in Rockford. 

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; a daughter, Suzanne Curry of New York, N.Y., and a son, John Curry of Gresham. Predeceased by his parents, Martin and Winifred Curry of Rockford, IL; a brother Martin Curry of Sarasota, FL; and his first wife, Ingrid Marian Dacklin of Rockford, IL.

Mr. Curry will be cremated with his ashes spread on the Columbia River where he worked so often. A memorial marker will be set at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR.
