| This history covers the family of my
Grandmother, Polly Minerva (Curry) Baxter. A farmer's daughter, she became
a nurse, caring for the sick and aged. She cared for others even as she
raised her own family. Times were hard, though, and more than once she
knew a mother's grief at losing her own young children.
Even now one can mention her name in certain places, and see her remembered with love. You would see, as I have, the smiles she gave so many years ago returned once again. She was "Aunt Polly" to many people, relatives or not. There was always a place at her table, always room under her roof. She was as good as the earth, and as constant in her love as the sun, and as strong. To her I dedicate this work of family history, and much more. |
