SSG Curtis Samuel Porter was born on 27 April 1966, in Philadelphia, PA. He joined the US Army in May of 1984, to realize his life long dream of bringing death and destruction on all who dare to infringe on the American way of life. He started out his career in the 24th Mechanized Infantry in Ft. Stewart, GA. Since then, he has served in 6th Infantry Division (L), Alaska, 101st Division (Air Assault) in Ft. Campbell, KY, and again in Ft. Griely in Alaska. He has also served as a Drill Sergeant in Ft. Jackson, SC, and as a Jumpmaster-qualified instructor (Blackhat) in Army Airborne School in Ft. Benning, GA.
SSG Porter had his first taste of combat fighting the Iraqi troops during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. He fought in the 101st Air Assault division, the Screaming Eagles.
SSG Porter has successfully completed his stint as an interim assistant instructor in the Air Assault School. he is also the company master driver. However, his primary focus remains with his squad, "Death and Destruction". He is proud of his squad;s superb performance during SQD EXEVAL, and is looking forward to bringing more death and destruction on the enemy in future field exercises.
SSG Porter led his squad as the assault elemnt during PLT EXEVAL. His fine performance contributed greatly to the success of the platoon.
An avid fisher and ceramic builder, he squeezes in reading between his many duties. SSG Porter has three lovely children, Tamia (18), Clarissa (10), and Curtis jr, (8). |
