EATING BY THE NUMBERS:
The chart below shows you one way to divide the POINTS so you can create your own nutritious meals while staying within your Daily POINTS Range.

FOOD GROUP                          POINTS
Complex Carbohydrates              6-9
Protein                                      6-8
Milk Products                            4-6
Fruits and Vegetables                  0-3
Fats                                          2-3
How to determine food points:
HOME
There is an easy formula to calculate the WW's points for any food, using the calories, dietary fiber content, and fat content per serving, which can be found on the food's label.  Use a calculator to figure the following:

                      (Calories/50) - (Fiber/5) + (Fat/12) = WW Point Value

Also, there are a few free
programs out there for PALM PILOTS that will do this!
It's also OBVIOUS that you will not always have the labels for all the food you eat in a day (for example, eating out, eating over at a friends house, etc).  Weight Watchers has published their nice long list of food point values in Guidelines for Healthy Living.  If you have a copy of this, GREAT!  Hopefully in the near future I will make a copy of this available on the net, but until then, email me for a photocopy!
