Jinn- a being created from fire, as opposed to humans, created from clay; jinn can be good or evil. Muhammad was recognized to have not been possesed by jinn after his spiritual experience with God.

K
Ka'bah- Built by Abraham and Ishmael, a cube shaped building in the open court of the Grand Mosque of Mecca. Contains the Black Stone and over 360 idols. The Quraysh tribe is its keeper.

Kiswah- A black cloth covering in the K'abah in Mecca

M
Mahdi- The expected one that will reappear at the last Imam's rule. The Twelvers recognize Ali son of Abu Talib as the first Imam.

Malcolm X- African American activist who converted to the Nation of Islam in prison, then to Sunni Islam and which started to bring about his rejection of racial discrimination

Mihrab- Niche in each mosque that points to the direction the congregation faces when they pray

Muezzin- calls faithful of Muslim community to prayer at the five times Muslims must pray everyday. Muhammad preferred a human voice to do this rather than bells like Christians use.

Muhajirun- "companions" who left Mecca to make new lives free of persecution with Muhammad in Medina. They did this despite losing all property and income.
