Winter 2000
Not all snow just because it is winter!!
Jerry was the first to try X-C skiing.  We got over a foot of snow!!
Cross country skiing along the C&O canal.  100 miles of flat wooded terrain.  We did 3 miles.  Thought we were going to be attacked by geese flying up the river, noisy!
Cross-country skiing along the C&O canal.  That is the Potomac in the background.  Note the Winter Goatee.
Charlottesville Virginia:
Monticello sits atop of a rounded hill, views 360 degrees in winter
Jerry and I, with our friend Holly below, spent a weekend just for fun. Monticello was Thomas Jefferson's residence.  The lower floor and basement are open to viewing.  The gardens are said to be beautiful in the summer.  I bought seeds from the garden to grow back in Maryland.  We took the SkyLine Drive back home.
The SkyLine drive is a 100 mile road atop the Appalacian mountains (Blue Ridge)

The beautiful south facing gardens.  Orchards are often on hills to escape the sinking cold that damages blossoms.
