Well, Im all settled in beautiful Frederick Maryland. With the car packed tight to the ceiling, and with a cat howling in its cage in the front seat, I set out Saturday November 6 ahead of schedule at 8:15a.m. Without incident, after travelling through NY, NJ and PA, I descended upon the area now called home at 2:30p.m. Jerry will be making his move the week after Thanksgiving. (To left is Maryland countryside at dawn) |

Im in a beautiful company sponsored green-roofed contemporary one-bedroom apartment. I was lucky enough to get a ground floor end unit just steps away from parking. I have one quiet neighbor above but no others on the other two sides. I liked living in the quiet country, so the transition here hasnt been at bad as I thought it would be. The apartment has a washer and dryer, dishwasher, and fireplace. There are racquetball and tennis courts, weight room, and an outside pool (brrr) a short walk away. The apartment backs up to a large field of an elementary school. There are very distant views of the mountains. |

Downtown Frederick is absolutely gorgeous. Sort of looks like Boston, lots of brick row houses and ironwork. Nearly all the buildings are completed renovated making the mile long downtown incredibly nice. There are about 40 antique shops downtown, lots of restaurants, and other interesting shops in every building. Im trying not to buy anything until I get a house, a very hard feat to accomplish. I just love all the brick, dark wood and high tin ceilings of the shops. Through the middle of downtown runs an elevated canal with wide walkways on either side. A mural transforms a flat cement bridge into a three-d work of art. Best of all, all of it is just a 15-minute walk from this apartment. |
