Who are the Floppy Ducks?
It all started in 1993. Ah! nostalgia. It seemed only necessary that the CSE batch of '95 should dazzle onlookers at CREC with their cricketing prowess. The previous year's Willow Cup had proved that while it was all very well to have teams come in and play their bit of cricket, none of it was really thrilling, entertaining, educative and least of all scientific. Besides, there was this alluring cash prize.
The hat was passed around. Oh, there was no team yet. But it would be suicidal to make a team and then start the collections. We needed everybody to do their bit. The next task was to choose the name. Obviously everybody had their own ideas. Eventually the guy who owned the bat decided that the team shall be called Floppy Ducks or else. As is often the case in this world, the privileged had crushed the have-nots under the iron boot.
But everybody liked it of course. There is a certain zing to the name Floppy Ducks. Besides, it seems to accurately capture the spirit of the team. Not to mention, their abilities. And so it was.
