Hi Guys, Just before leaving to the "promised land", I decided to take a trip back to college. I needed a few transcripts nevertheless, but I wanted to just go and see how the place looked like after 3 years. A lot has changed at college. I landed on the day of the oath taking of the new union. The whole union has been taken over by Radicals. No one knows what NSUI/ABVP is. They have been wiped off from the face of the earth. And surprisingly, a party called I-square (Independent Initiative) smashed their way thru last year, only to get their ass whipped this time around (Patra shudd be turning in his grave hearing this). The shortcut from the Rajpath to the canteen has been closed down, and the place has been reclaimed to build a swank new Admin block, which is moving out of the MB. A lot of new people are at the same old posts, the economics dame Meenakshi is the proctor (no one knows where the hell Sashindaran is). Vijayan (of canteen) claims the business is kicking coz there are no longer any "pangas" as the crowd is supposedly very "hard working" and "studious". The whole fuckin MB and DB look dead and bleak and gloomy even on a normal day, and that was supposed to be a union swear in day. Ragging is unheard of. Mamoos is nowhere to be seen. Vinu and his freakin bro Das are nowhere, their prime location at Kattangal being taken by some other bums. IIM guys have taken over the international hostel. CEDT holds classes for IIM guys, and their CC is also in CEDT. There is a lone chick in IIM, and she stays in the LH. She has no time restrictions. But then there are hazaar things still the same. The reporting time for chicks still stands at 7.00. There is still only one job per head. There are all those guys who I forgot that existed on the face of the earth, like Plastic John, Sushma, Mithailal (of Civil fame), Chuda kumar, Chandrakaran the bum (Civil), Saji joseph. Then all those guys like Nambiar and Dutta and Chacko and Vincent paul and VS Prasad still hanging around there. Hostels still look the same. The Coops and Navy board and happy valley and mamachan still attract crowd. All those mashes from the guys at rado and eastern to the guys at kattangal are the same. all those sick mashes in the admin on the MB first floor are still around. I also checked out a movie at crown for old times sake. Spent some time at Navy Board, Coops, kattangal, Mamachan, happy valley and the old sm street. Had to have a drink at KTDC, although the IIM bums tell me that the IN place now to have a drink is the Taj, it is not expensive .. a bottle of KF costs only 60 bucks. Still, I found that a part of me was living and breathing there, and all those places that we ever hung out at still brings back one hell of memories. I guess we should all check out that place once together, although it dosent seem likely. And then, we should also launch a worldwide hunt for the following extinct species : Dipen, Mota, Buddha, Khallu. Bye, Bob. ..............................................................
