Since most Curlies hail from
diversified backgrounds, it's often necessary to go
far afield to research their non-Curly ancestors. Still, there are

resources aplenty to get the job done.

Mar All-Breed Horse Query
The best all-around pedigree resource on the Web, bar none!
All breeds are included (there are lots of Curlies are already in the
database) and
if your horse isn't there, you can add him--including a photo. Seems
best
(so far) for Quarter Horses; these pedigrees date to colonial
times.
For best results read Andrea Laycock Mattson's excellent article "Del
Mar Query; Getting the Most Out of This Free All-Breed
Database"
before you begin. Note also that there is a message board at this
site
where you may post your individual needs. All in all, this site is
honey!
One caveat: If you're researching a
Thoroughbred, a better choice is the original Del Mar
Pedigree Query; scads of
Thoroughbred-specific
features are available there. Don't miss the picture pedigrees!
Again,
the message board is first-rate.
This is an extensive downloadable
database;
since most early Canadian Standardbreds came from
American stock, this is a valuable resource for American
Standardbred researchers too.
