October 23rd Update:

I apologize for the lengthy delay in posting an update to Kathleen's site. October is typically a busy month for us, with three of the kids birthdays. Throw in basketball practices and games for Alex and Nolan and Daisy Scouts for Sydney and it makes for a full schedule. Because we are getting back into the swing of things, a sense of normalcy is slowly entering our lives. That's a very good thing!

Today, Kathleen will undergo her 23rd radiation treatment. She will have 35 treatments by the time she is finished on November 7th. At this point, radiation has been going ok. Kathleen is tired by the end of each day and is beginning to see a redness on the skin that is being treated. In addition to that, there is emotional stress from having to go to the hospital five days a week to be treated. It will be good when this stage of treatment is complete. She is holding up very well and has never wavered in her desire to be cured. Kathleen is an amazing lady!

What's ahead? Kathleen will have scans after radiation is complete to confirm that there is no sign of cancer. She will also undergo a reconstruction surgery. When that is complete, barring any other freak things, Kathleen should be on the road to recovery. We pray that is the case.

Thanks to all of you for your continued support and prayers. Thanks also to everyone contributing to having our home cleaned on a weekly basis and for bringing meals to the house. You have no idea how much those acts of kindness mean to us. You are all angels.

We ask you to continue to pray for Kathleen. Please pray that she will be cancer-free for the rest of her life. Also pray for the radiation technologists working on Kathleen each day. Pray that they will treat Kathleen with great care, precision and accuracy as they administer treatment to her. Also pray for our children that their anxiety and worries will subside.
