Kathleen's third chemotherapy treatment took place in Dubuque at 9:30 yesterday. The treatments are very extensive. In addition to the three chemicals that Kathleen is given, she is also given Tagamet to aid in stomach discomfort, three anti-nausea medicines and Benadryl, to ward off any reactions she may have toward the chemo drugs. Five hours after undergoing treatment, Kathleen was at home having pleasant conversation with her mom and dad, who are staying for a few days to help with the kids and maintain the household. She had a light dinner in the evening and was sleeping by 9:30pm. Kathleen did have a rather sleepless night, but seemed to be tolerating the side effects better than in round two.

On Friday morning, Kathleen accompanied her mom and the kids to their morning swimming lessons. It is difficult to believe that less than 24 hours after receiving three dangerous chemicals, she is watching her kids splashing in the pool! Strength and courage do not even begin to describe this lady. She is simply amazing!

Friday afternoon, Kathleen receives her shot of Neulasta to boost her white blood cell count. As mentioned previously, it is a wonder drug that has kept her white blood cell counts where they need to be.
