Even a "Dirty Bomb" (some nuclear waste and regular explosives) can render a city uninhabitable for 30,000 years !
We must take EVERY step necessary to prevent this.

The pacifists are going to have a city destroyed before they will understand the steps we MUST take. One  terrorist today can kill 100,000's of people, too easily. THAT is why we just cannot take the slightest chance. It is a threat with no precedent. We must have the foresight to deal with it correctly.

But we are not going to learn until a  city is laid waste.
Only then will we seriously act to ensure radioactive material is secure worldwide.

History has taught us that passiveness at the wrong time can cause more deaths than ANY preventive action would. The British leadership in 1938, returning from meeting Hitler, with the "Peace in our time" message might otherwise have saved millions of jews and Europeans. Preventive, concerted European action, with the help of the USA, could have deterred Hitler instead of waiting 7 years. We needed visionaries foretelling the carnage to be heard. Heed ye this.

"A nuclear terror act is highly likely.”
Dr. Graham Allison, Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government
If the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center had involved a nuclear device instead of a conventional bomb, it would have obliterated all of Lower Manhattan. Unfortunately, acquiring unsecured radioactive substances and sneaking them into the U.S. would not be that difficult, Allison says.

In the nuclear weapons case, there is only a finite amount of fissile material, either highly enriched uranium or plutonium, and it is almost impossible for anyone to make plutonium or highly enriched uranium unless they are a state that has a big, visible, complicated technical production process. What's needed is a concerted effort to contain the spread of existing nuclear material, in which the U.S. must lead the rest of the world. This material and these weapons are too dangerous to the rest of us for it to be left in ownership of uncontrolled entities or uncooperative regimes.

Securing all such weapons and materials would be a vast undertaking, because, oh my God, that means securing
70,000 to 80,000 real or potential nuclear weapons in Russia. And you'd have to do the same in Pakistan and elsewhere. And then there are research reactors.

We could have President
Putin as an ally in a heartbeat. China is easy. France and Britain are easy. Pakistan is hard but if China supports it, they'd go with it in Pakistan. And then going and rounding up the rest, I think it becomes a vast, complicated, and expensive but doable job.

In Belgrade (Yugoslavia),  despite the fact that we were bombing that city in the war, we left a research reactor with enough highly enriched uranium to make three nuclear weapons. A joint Russian-American initiative in August of last year raided it. That's the lengths we have to go. And there are plenty of other places where such dangerous threats exist.

The argument that attacking Iraq only creates more terrorists is non-existent. We could not have been any more unpopular with Arabs than were already, no matter what we did. Also, most Arab peoples want to see us install democracy in Iraq (or will admire us for it in the future). We should not pander to the Arabian country's autocratic rulers. We need to encourage democracy in ALL Arab countries (and gain future appreciation from the Arab peoples).

Iraq Provokes Chasm between Washington and International Community

When the UNO, the IAEA, the Secretary General of the UN, most of the international community and the USA’s staunchest ally, the United Kingdom, more time to the weapons inspectors, George Bush the USA will present evidence to the UN Security Council the regime in Iraq has ties to Al-Qaeda.

Dr. Hans Blix, the leader of the UNMOVIC inspection team, told the security council Iraq is not cooperating: access sites inspect more needs to be done there are missing documents evidence that biological and chemical weapons have not been destroyed. Iraq war protest peace rallies march a mistake

The hasty tacking together by the Iraqi authorities of 12,000 pages on the weapons programs left its mark: there are gaps and inconsistencies. For the UNO, these are questions that must be solved and clarified. For the USA, it is evidence that Saddam Hussein is lying. Iraq war protest peace rally march a mistake
