Sicily sights
We will be adding photos of our adventures periodically so please check back!
This is the "elephant rock"; it is the symbol of Catania. It is in the very center of town.
We visited Taormina and drove way high up. This was the view. Breathtakingly high and beautiful.
This is called the cyclops. It is a rock off the coast of Ariceale I think. It is supposed to be a "lookout" spot for when Siciy was invaded by everyone around--Sicily's location made it very important-it was conquered by the Normans, Arabs, Greeks, and Romans. This was our first weekend here and the boys loved collecting the rocks from the beach. We were the palest people there!
stinker!
This is us at our arrividerci party at church.
another favorite of Connor. The boys were tired, hot and very grouchy. It was 100 that day.
look how clear the water is! definitely not like home!
Bellini garden in Catania. The date (July 29, 2005) is shaped into the grass; it changes daily.
art in the Duomo(church) in Catania Connor's favorite part of the trip-the fountain at the fish market entrance
this is a typical Sicilan road-narrow, curvy, no shoulder.....
Ryan at VBS--see, he can participate!
We've been here almost 5 weeks and this is the second time it has rained.Etna is in the background.  8/19
