The possibility that other life forms could think in our linear straight jacket manner, once again tells me that we still think that we are the "Center" of the universe.
I have said this many times before, in my mind and heart God created us and all the universe's to follow, in many different ways. I think it's entirely possible that God like's some diversity on occasion and thought it might be fun to toss in a little human doubt. The same way I wonder if dog's know right from wrong,
or do they know the difference between good and evil? Just when you begin to think you know everything about the pooch you raised from a pup, bango they do something really dumb like eat an entire ham just before Easter dinner, or when you think "man that mutt can't be any dumber" they rescue some poor person that was felled by a tree dragging the poor slob to safety, all the while thinking it's own life is best sacrificed .
Good or evil can't be measured in a metal ship. Rather only in those spirits housed in very fragile suits of skin and fluid by what ever caused it to be complied, be it God or a creator that we believe to be God. I guess the question you ask of us today is if I can be good or evil , then why can't the unknown life form, unfamiliar to me be the same? No more making these beings into pieces of plastic unable to feel. We all know that makes it much easier to shoot a metal ship out of the sky than a living being. We also know that "our way" is "the only way!" Yeah ......right.
