Kingpin Mod
Step 1 Find/Purchase/Acquire a screw that is this size. It is shown in comparison to a Tech Deck handboard screw.
Step 2 Remove one of your handboard trucks, especially if you are doing this mod because your kingpin snapped. However, I do recommend knocking out intact kingpins as well, for they will break in the future.
Step 3 Remove bolt, bushings, and bushing protectors from your truck.
Step 4 Take a hammer and knock out your kingpin. This may take some tries and the kingpin might bend a few times, but keep bending it back and tryin to knock it out; it will come out eventually.
Step 5 This is what the baseplate and kingpin look like when separated.
Step 6 Use a drill bit to widen the hole on the hanger of your truck. I used a 5/64" bit, but you may need something thicker or thinner based on the diameter of the screw you are using.
Step 7 Insert screw into the hole of the truck hanger to ensure it fits fine.
Step 8 Once proper fit is made, place the bushing and bushing protector onto the screw. If your screw is too thick, you may need to twist the bushing onto it.
Step 9 While making sure to keep the other end of the hanger in the pivot cup, insert the end of the screw into the baseplate hole (where the old kingpin used to be).
Step 10 After inserted into kingpin hole in baseplate, turn the screw until you have a snug fit. However, don't tighten too much or you might strip the threads on the screw.
Step 11 This is what the truck should look like once everything is said and done.
Step 12 Notice how the screw head is way below the grinding area of the truck. This will prevent you from getting hung up on rails or obstacles.
Step 12 Marvel at what you have done, and be sure you use your handboard to its fullest capabilities.
