THE SAGA CONTINUES

Well, 10 months have passed now,  so we will see how much I remember!

It was an afternoon at work, pick any afternoon as most workdays are the same, only the problems change,  and I received a phone call at work from my trusty  friend Frances.............
"Charlie (her hubby) and I are going to go over and start staking out and placing track for  your inner loop ..........

"Huh" , I said............

Well, sure enough I got home and there it was........... all these little stakes sticking up in the air,  all the grade levels and all (this was a two or three day process or more, I honestly don't remember)!  My mind is getting old and feeble!  Well, we got out there that weekend and dug some trenches,  laid the # 57 stone, screwed the track, and  ran the ballast.......................

Here are some remembrances (If I can find them on my server!)...............

This is some of C & F's handy work laying out the inner loop!

so is this!!!!!!!!

and this too!

and this (note we are now laying the stone, so this must be the weekend)
Can you tell I am tired yet?

Today is Saturday, August 21, 1999.  I have unloaded and put out 30 -  3 cu ft bags of pine bark behind my layout, moved about 1/2 ton of pea gravel for a walkway, and cut back a humongus butterfly bush and a camellia (we pronounce that ca may ya down here),  got my market umbrella out, and just entertained Frances and Charlie and given them short cut directions to a party tonight..............It is hot (how hot I do not know, I just know it is hot!) and I am just about ready to fall over on my face ..................Think I am going to save this now and go take a shower and go get something to eat................nice little Italian restaurant close to here, really gooood food, gourmet they say :o),   nice glass of Merlot, balsamic vinegar salad, Veal Marsala .............................working all day on an empty stomach doesn't help any......................AAAHHH!!!! Just made myself starved!
.
C ya'll later!

Sun. Morning, Aug 22

Well, a good friend of mine told me last night this page is a lousy page. (BTW, to set the record straight, I didn't say it was lousy(KB)) Not my usual stuff!   And he was  right!  But you know what,................ my name ain't David Allen Coe, or Hank Williams Jr., or Willie Nelson,  or Bill Gates for that matter..........he he..............and I sure ain't making no money off this thing, and ain't nobody beating my door down, so far ...........but, hopefully, by the time I get to the end, it will have all the basic contents to make a good story  like........ trains...... rain....... trucks...... momma........she comes later,........ stations, I am working on one now..............getting drunk...........was that or was it not a Michelob bottle?,....... did somebody say getting run over, and prison (where is Slim and Stumpy when ya need em?), ........HUH?    to make it a fair web page, and I'm gonna leave it just like it is.......Like it or leave it..................

Well, I tell  you what I'm gonna do, I'll add a few more pictures so you can see the continued progress.....then when I get the time, I will continue my story line, how's that?

No, that is NOT a Michelob beer bottle sitting on top of the tunnel.  I repeat..................

That looks like two LGB engines running down the tracks............oops..........one of those looks like C & F's Shay
Man, that scenery looks so depressing...............all the leaves off the trees
Looking back at these now brings back a lot of aches and pains...........
This is my Granddaughter, Kennedy, chasing my Mogul around the track..........she named it Traffic which I thought was neat that she associated the train and traffic with modern day transportation.........
and this has absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter, but I love this picture of Kennedy and wanted to include it.......well, it does represent how I have felt at times working on the lay out.............kinda like "Are we having fun yet"?
Return to Home Page....

  Next Page.......

More to come at a later date...................
