October
4, 1995 O
God, as You allowed Moses a glimpse of Your glory, so
that he could believe in the One who had called him, give
us too a glimpse of You. Fill
our eyes with Your creation, the work of Your perfect
hands. But limit not Your glory to our eyes. Fill
our ears with the declaration of Your glory by those pure
in heart who came before us and in Your service left for
us all a legacy of wisdom. Let us not forget these
saints, as well as those who surround us even now. Fill
our minds with the Holy Scriptures in which You, ever
great in mercy, entrust to our unworthy hands Your mighty
and holy words, that we may apprehend Your ways. By
this all, may our hearts be led to love and devotion to
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who, though fully God,
humbled himself even to death on a cross, that we,
through him, may be saved. In
Your power, allow us to see Your glory. But,
we beseech You, forget not Your mercy. Show us all of
Your glory, that we may die, or give us but a glimpse
that we may live. Hide us in the cleft of the rock, cover
our eyes, for we know that the power of Your glory may
destroy us, as we are a people of unclean lips. And
we know that it is only by the incarnation of the Son, as
the coal taken from the heavenly altar, that our guilt
has been taken away and our sin has been atoned for, so
that we may see You, the King, the LORD Almighty. Amen.

3, 1995 Through
sin we have brought upon ourselves death. In
arrogance we have considered only ourselves. In
disobedience we have neglected your laws. In
worldliness we have loved the shameful. In
mercy you have considered our scarlet sins. Amen.
December
13, 1995 Prayer For
Your people, O God, whom you have called out of this
present dark world, we pray. As
the head and source, O Jesus, guide and feed Your Church
with heavenly manna. For
our sake, O Spirit, empower us with strength, bestow on
the unworthy Your gifts of mercy. That
we may serve the creation, and that we may preserve the
world, blessing it with Your love. That
we, Your Church, may represent You in the world,
preaching Your good news and proclaiming the glory of the
most holy Trinity. Amen. |
