CZECH CULTURAL GARDEN
The CLEVELAND CULTURAL GARDENS are located in an area known as Rockefeller Park, along MLK Blvd. and East Blvd., just south of St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. This truly unique string of over twenty gardens is representative of the various nationalities living in the Cleveland area.

The CZECH GARDEN was dedicated on October 6, 1935. It is circular in layout with two entrance monuments which declare the purpose of the Garden: "A memorial to Czech parents who by solid example set the high ideals of American citizenship".

The focal point is a statue of Jan Amos Komensky, an educator and philosopher. Busts of Frantisek Palacky, Karel Havlicek Borovsky, Jindrich Simon Baar, composers Bedrich Smetana and Antonin Dvorak stand guard of Czech culture and history. The Statue ot T.G. Masaryk, the founder of the Republic and the first president, was dedicated in 1961. See "Links" for photos.

All aforementioned statues were made by Frank Jirouch,1878-1970, a Cleveland born sculptor of Czech descent.

The Garden is maintained by the Czech community in Cleveland with financial assistance from the Czech Foreign Ministry and the Victor Ptak family in Cleveland.
