Biography

Robert Edward James Lancaster was born on the 27th of June, 1970 in Wessex, England to His Grace Edward Lancaster VII and Duchess Carolyn Lancaster, one of the wealthiest families in the United Kingdom.  He attended Eton, achieving top honours in his class.  After graduating, he proceeded to a programme in Classics at Oxford.  He excelled in athletics, and was wrestling champion.  Tragedy struck the family when both Duke and Duchess of Lancaster were killed in a crash, when their Lear Jet lost control on a final entrance into Heathrow in 1993.  Shaken badly, Lancaster succeeded his father to the title of Duke of the Duchy of Wessex at the young age of twenty-three.

After recovering from shock, and being directionless in life, he defied family tradition and began to train as a professional wrestler, but not without losing his playboy status on the world stage.  The Duke romanced several models and actresses, with none truly appealing to him beyond the aesthetic level.  He continued to travel the world, as a patron of the arts amongst other things, when he attended the opening of an art exhibit in London by a local minor noble, Lady Stephanie Dynasty.  The Duke was enchanted with her, as was the young Lady with him.  He did not hesitate to court her, and the two were engaged not too long afterwards.  It was about this time that the Duke received a call from his old chum, Thane Renhsuk, who was moving up the ranks in the Chaos Wrestling Federation (CWF).  The Duke was taken by the idea to join the organization, and signed with the CWF under the name of "Bobby Goodlife," later changing to "Duke Robert Goodlife II."  While there, he would capture the CWF Hardcore Championship, and also, the CWF Transcontinental Championship, being the latter's only holder.

With the CWF defunct, Robert contacted the NAWA, and was signed quickly with many other of his CWF counterparts, coming in under the guise of the "Anarchist Regime."  While the group would be tenuous in its existence, a new faction of three men arose from its ashes: the Triumvirate, consisting of El Mucho, Jeff "the Thane" Kushner and Lancaster.

While there, he would go on to capture the NAWA American Tag Team Championship with fellow Triumvirate member, El Mucho, and then the American Championship from Jeff "the Thane" Kushner, with whom he had a bitter feud; he would reign as the final American Champion in the history of the NAWA.

After a massive corruption and tax evasion scandal which rocked the NAWA, the federation was closed permanently.  Seeking new options, Robert contacted the PWD, where several other NAWA stars had received contracts.  To his shock, the mindless owner of the PWD refused to sign the English star.  Thusly, Lancaster retired from the world of professional wrestling; but not for long.

In September 2000, while vacationing in Paris with his fiancée Lady Stephanie Erin Dynasty, Lancaster met a young Frenchman while in a café, working as a waiter.  He saw the potential in the man, at only 24 years old, and saw in him much of himself when he was at that age.  He persuaded the former French military officer trainee to train in the arts of the ring for several months.  With the collapse of the NAWA, the World Wrestling Alliance, the WWA, arose.  Under Harvey D. Keen, Lancaster contacted the WWA and managed to sign a contract as manager for the young Frenchman, who became known as "the Absolutist" Leviathan.   Leviathan would capture the WWA International Tag Team Championship with Seamus Finnegan, Lancaster's old drinking friend, but their reign would be short lived.  The second issue of the Triumvirate, with Lancaster as manager, consisting of Leviathan, Finnegan, and Kushner, engaged in a long war against the Authority and the Regulators. Leviathan and Lancaster would later come to blows over the love of Stephanie Lancaster, but with the closure of the WWA, the couple reconciled. Lancaster created, in the meantime, Robert Lancaster Investment Enterprises, (formerly Robert Goodlife Investment Enterprises), a successful stock brokerage firm with centres in London and New York.

In May of 2001, Lancaster married his long time fiancée Lady Dynasty at the estate in Wessex.  They also welcomed into the world their first born child on March 15, 2002, Edward James Lancaster, who will succeed the Duke on his passing as the eighth Duke of Wessex with that title. The former Duke has since, with regret, divorced his wife Stephanie in 2003, but has come to terms regarding the status of their son. Lady Stephanie Dynasty-Lancaster lives in the Lancastrian Estate in Wessex with their son Edward, with Her Ladyship acting as regent.

With his family secure, the MSWA proved to provide the call to the ex-Duke to return to the ring. He began his return as an investment partner in the federation, investing $5 million in Lynch Properties to refurbish and renovate the storied Jack Lynch Theater, as well as promoting the Lynch Sports Bar and Grille. The call of the ring became increasingly strong, leading to the Lancasters' resignation from RLIE, in favour of creating Lancaster International, owned solely by Robert himself. In the ring, Lancaster feuded with Chris "the Thrill" Wright, claiming the MSWA Smokey Mountain Heritage Championship, being its final holder as well, making himself a final three-time holder of championships in the last days of three federations.  The MSWA closed its doors after an investigation into federation head Jack Lynch by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The ex-Duke then became a contracted star in the CSWA, part of the Coalition of Affiliated Leagues (CAL).  In a few short months, he captured the CSWA Great Plains Championship by defeating Jonny Five and Napalm along the way, to become the first holder in history. Robert was later named as one of four men the CSWA would send to the Coalition of Affiliated League's "Crusade for the Chosen One II" pay-per-view, to enter a tournament, where by the winner would get a shot at the CAL World Heavyweight Champion at some point down the road. The Duke would go further than any other CSWA superstar, reaching the semi-finals, only to be eliminated by the eventual winner of the tournament, Chris Kline. Lancaster also reached the absolute pinnacle of the tag team division in the entire CAL, with his long time friend Seamus Finnegan, by defeating SeX of the BWWa in a memorable match to become the CAL World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.   They reigned together for fifty-five days, the third longest CAL World Tag Team Championship reign in history, at the time.

Lancaster moved forward still and formed the Jacobins, along with "the Professor" Chris Wright, the Scythe Meister, and Seamus Finnegan, as a way to counter the hegemony and domination of the upper ranks of by the Authority and the Darkness. Wright, Finnegan and Lancaster were entered into the CSWA's "Last Man Standing" pay-per-view gauntlet match and participated valiantly.  Lancaster although defeated in the gauntlet match, won the CSWA Central States Tag Team Championship with Seamus in a match against the Authority, Constantine and Napalm, earlier that evening.

The CSWA closed on November 30, 2003, near the eve of a series of matches that was to pit the Duke against his former comrade, Jeff Kushner, where at some point they would have fought for the CSWA Central States Heavyweight Championship.  Despite this, Lancaster retired yet another championship around his waist, with Seamus Finnegan, as the CSWA Central States Tag Team Champions.

Only weeks after, Robert Lancaster and Seamus Finnegan contacted BWWa owner Vincent Pagliano and were invited to join the BWWa, along with their friend...Jeff Kushner.  Despite the weeks of hatred that had built up between them, particularly between Kushner and Lancaster, they managed to put it behind them, and resurrected perhaps the most powerful faction in wrestling history: the Triumvirate, at the CAL's "Reindeer Games III" pay-per-view.

The BWWa was new ground and the Triumvirate sought to make an impact early on.

And they did.

They attacked Chris Kline weeks after entering, and involved themselves in the most treacherous match perhaps in BWWa history: the Stable War 2004 Hell in a Cell match, pitting the three men against Larger than Life, SeX, and New Age Entertainment, NAE.  By the end of the night, the Triumvirate nearly swept all the gold from out of the hands of the other competitors.  Seamus Finnegan earned a BWWa Championship shot for the following week, after pinning champion Apollo Carrington simultaneously with "Catostrophic" Chris Kline.   Lancaster himself emerged with the second highest championship in the federation, defeating Adlai King to become the new BWWa Silver Dollar Champion.  The previous champion, Flare, was forced to vacate the Silver Dollar Title at the request of acting BWWa President, Brett Stanton, who ordered King to defend the title in Stable War 2004 in Flare's stead, thus giving Lancaster the title.  And yet still, the Triumvirate secured the BWWa Tag Team Championship as well that night, as Lancaster pinned Adlai King to win the tag titles for the Triumvirate.  The stipulation regarding the Tag Team Championship was that the team who was the first team to fully eliminate the final member of another team would earn the BWWa Tag Team Titles for their team and The Triumvirate did so when Lancaster pinned Adlai King in the match.  Having the liberty to name who they wished to be champions, the team named Lancaster and Finnegan to represent the group as BWWa Tag Team Champions.

Only a few short months later, Seamus Finnegan would defeat Apollo Carrington for the BWWa Championship, his first ever Heavyweight Championship in seventeen years.  Three quarters - or 75% - of the BWWa's championship's lay in the hands of two men: Lancaster and Finnegan, each holding two titles respectively, concurrently.

Fate however had other plans for the BWWa itself.  And not unlike the CWF, NAWA, MSWA, and CSWA before them, Lancaster would wear championship gold into the closure of a federation, the BWWa, which closed its doors on July 31, 2004.

Several months later, a new federation was born out of the ashes of the CAL's IWA, that being OLW, or Old Line Wrestling.  Lancaster signed and brought along his then fiancée, Marissah Whitely, to be his manager.  He had great early successes, and hoped that himself and his long time comrade Seamus Finnegan would once again rule the tag team division.  However, Finnegan decided to retire from the ring, causing Lancaster to snap and attack his long time accomplice, giving him a concussion in the process.

On March 15, 2005 Lancaster married his long time love and fiancée Marissah Whitely in a civil ceremony in Wessex - on the same day as the birthday as the Duke's son.   This was the ex-Duke's second marriage, and upon their marriage, Marissah took the title of Duchess of Wessex, with all the roles and duties there in.

Robert Lancaster for months had realized he was not expressing his true inner self.  That he was not being true to his essence, to his being.  After attacking Finnegan, Robert Lancaster declared himself "dead."  And from him came forth the "Evolution of Essence," the "Destroyer of Worlds," Avarice.

Avarice went on to dominate the singles ranks in OLW, defeating along the way such lumanaries as Daemon Curtis, Cole Christenson, Freddy Phoenix, and Jack Cross.  At Reindeer Games IV, Avarice and CAL President Angelina Bishop came to terms along the lines of Avarice supporting Bishop's ambitions, with her giving Avarice her support in his efforts in OLW.
Despite losing at Reindeer Games, Avarice was still one of the premier stars in OLW, and had his eyes set on both OLW and CAL gold.

Bishop however would not be an ally of any sorts after political wrangling within the CAL saw her resign as CAL President.

Not too long after, the CAL itself folded, leaving all the federations within its umbrella free to fend for themselves.  Avarice by consequence was then signed exclusively to OLW.

In perhaps the biggest match of his career, Avarice finally faced Seamus Finnegan in a "Life versus Limb" barbed-wire ropes match at OLW's "Line One" pay-per-view on January 8, 2006.  Should Avarice have lost, he would have had to give up his title as Duke of Wessex via abdication, and resign from wrestling forever; Finnegan if defeated would have to retire forever.  In a match which tested both men and saw both lose extreme amounts of blood, Avarice managed to end Finnegan's career with a "Destroyer of Worlds" reversal off the turnbuckles.

The defeat of Finnegan, and his stellar record up to that point, cemented Avarice's place as the number one contender to new OLW Champion Daemon Curtis title.  The two have faced once in a non-title match, which witnessed Avarice smashing the same cane which helped Curtis win the OLW Title over Curtis' head.

After weeks of hatred and attacks and revenge, the two men faced off at OLW "Line Two" pay-per-view in the main event, in a no-disqualification First Blood match.  Avarice managed to take a piece of Curtis' shattered cane and drive it into Curtis' forehead, striking first blood, and securing him his first ever top tier Championship.  Prior to this at "Line Two," under arrangement with OLW Commissioner "Keep it Real Kid" Richard Bernstein to support OLW financially, Avarice also secured the primary role in the Unforgiven II stable, leaving Jeffy Andrews demoted.  A few weeks prior, Avarice had become a member of the Unforgiven II, and as its de facto head, used the stable at his will.

Upon becoming champion, Avarice faced his first challenge from Keith Edwards, the dynamite veteran.  Edwards pushed Avarice to the edge and handed him his first defeat in quite a long time, in his first match as champion.  Outraged, Avarice and the Unforgiven II ambushed Edwards backstage during their next match, and defeated the flamboyant star.  Soon after Edwards left OLW.

Divisions in the Unforgiven II became apparent not long into Avarice's tenure.  Jefferson Andrews and Danny Vicious proved to be incompatible and combustible elements in the faction; Richard Bernstein's inability to control the men made the Unforgiven a very unstable - stable.

After weeks of confrontation, Avarice on the 11th of November 2006 edition of "Outrage" demanded and received KIRK's resignation as OLW Commissioner, handing the position to Avarice - but not before booking a "Match Beyond War Games" match at OLW "End of the Line" that pitted Avarice against fifteen other competitors.

Before that time, on the 26th of November 2006 edition of "Outrage," Avarice, as Commissioner, abolished the OLW Title and in its place introduced the OLW Imperial Heavyweight Championship.  Moments later, he abolished the Unforgiven II and replaced it with The Iconoclasm - Karl Pace, a huge West Virginian, Big D and Impact, former CAL World Tag Team Champions, and the diabolical Yoshikazu YAZ.

"End of the Line" finally arrived and witnessed Avarice defeating Jeffy Andrews via disqualification after interference from OLW President Kai Scott.  Had Andrews won, he not only would have won the recently renamed OLW Imperial Heavyweight Championship, but he would have taken Avarice's spot in War Games.  In the actual War Games match, Avarice, exhausted and beaten, was eliminated by submission by Heidi, whom he was allegedly romantically linked to during a weekend get-away to Paris several weeks prior; Cole Christenson was crowned that night the new champion.  Outraged, Marissah humiliated Avarice by slapping him after the match.

On Good Friday 2007 Marissah Whitely-Lancaster was assassinated by Kenneth Simkins, a former employee of the Lancastrian Estate.  It was later revealed that Marissah had plotted with the ex-Duke's financial advisor to assassinate Edward Lancaster.  She was also found to have embezzled and defrauded Lancaster, as well as having an adulterous affair with Paulus Marcus, the aforementioned financial advisor.

With this trauma upon his head, Lancaster dropped his Avarice persona, and retired from wrestling, but maintained his role as OLW Commissioner.  He then moved from the Trump building in New York to Toronto.

Robert Lancaster maintains homes in Toronto and London.

Career Hilights

Robert Lancaster II wrestled for about seven years, in a total of six different federations (CWF, NAWA, MSWA, CSWA, BWWa, OLW) and managed in one (WWA).  In this time, he captured a total of eleven separate championships (details below, listed in chronological order) and managed one championship team ("the Absolutist" Leviathan and Seamus Finnegan, "Civil War," WWA International Tag Team Champions).

Robert Lancaster was also part of six distinct stables, or groups, in these various federations.  He was part of the original refugees from the CWF in the NAWA, calling themselves the Anarchist Regime.  In the NAWA he would form the Triumvirate with fellow CWF'ers Jeff Kushner and El Mucho, and again in the WWA as a manager.  In the CSWA, with Kushner joining a rival group, Lancaster and Finnegan formed the Jacobins, and declared war on the opposing group.  Peace returned in the BWWa, and the Triumvirate was resurrected, but folded upon the closure of BWWa.  He joined the Unforgiven II in OLW, which was largely comprised of former IWA stars.  Under arrangement with UII's de jure head, Richard Bernstein, the OLW Commissioner, Lancaster became UII's de facto head for his financial support of OLW after the dismemberment of the CAL.  Upon the disintegration of UII's stability, Lancaster established The Iconoclasm, reaped from his supporters in UII.  After Lancaster's departure from wrestling, the Iconoclasm folded.
