OFFICE OF HIS GRACE ROBERT LANCASTER II, DUKE OF WESSEX
* WESSEX, ENGLAND *
WESSEX, ENGLAND (Monday, June 23, 2003): FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It is with regret that the Office of His Grace Robert Lancaster II, Duke
of Wessex, by the Grace of God, announces that His Grace and Her Grace Stephanie
Erin Lancaster, Duchess of Wessex, have decided to seek out an immediate
divorce proceedings, as served under the provision of the laws of the United
Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Lady Lancaster, as she is to be known now, will lose the title of "Her Grace"
effective immediately, and will no longer serve as Duchess of Wessex.
Any children later conceived by Lady Lancaster will not be heir under any
circumstance to the House of Lancaster's hold on the title nor properites
of the Duchy of Wessex.
It is pleasing to note however, that there will be no legal challenge or
dispute as to terms of the divorce settlement, nor will there be any legal
challenge to custody of Edward James Lancaster, the couple's one year old
boy. Her Ladyship will take custody, and His Grace will be allowed
visitation at regular intervals without hesitation.
Edward James Lancaster is heir to the Duchy of Wessex, and will serve as
the eighth Lancaster under that name.
The House of Lancaster has existed for nearly a millenium, established first
under the reign of His Majesty Harold II, King of England, before His Majesty
William I ("the Conqueror") removed Harold from power in 1066.
His Grace Robert Lancaster II has served as Duke of Wessex for ten years.
