QUILTS
It
seems irrational that a woman who made quilts with other stay-at-home
moms would be more influential to advance the goals of True Parents
than if she got all dressed up in a business suit and went to the
United Nations to fight against AIDS and female genital mutilation in
Africa. But the truth is not easy for fallen man to see in these Last
Days. Homemaking is the only career a woman should have. Those women
who have to work should pray to God to find a way to get out of it or
at least minimize it. There are many practical issues we could
discuss, but this book is about basic values. In the transition to
the ideal world, many women will have to work. This has nothing to do
with our pure argument that God's way if for women to live in
communities of trinities where they are protected and given the space
to truly grow in fulfilling their domestic duties.
Giving speeches in fancy hotels about secondary issues is not what the UC should be focusing on. We need to create a pattern for people live by. Political and religious leadership is not what women should be focusing on. They need to focus on husbands, children, grandparents, and other children in their community.
PRIVATE AND PUBLIC
There
are no textbooks by UC members that explain how women can take care
of the private and also fulfill a public mission of influencing and
healing this world. I offer my books as a start in that direction.
True Parents lived an army life, but our salvation army should not
live like they did. It is not right for men to have their pregnant
wives leave their children to go on some grueling mission away from
their home. We have plenty of stories of Mother being pregnant with
one of her 14 children and traveling long distances away from her
other children to stand next to Father so the members could see the
True Parents. Hyun Jin Nim is now the vice-president of the church
and should not follow in those footsteps. It is not necessary for us
to see his wife if he travels.
Father said he was like a doctor when he spoke at Yankee Stadium. The essence of his teaching is the cure for the disease of feminism that is an epidemic satanic ideology holding America in its grip. The prescription Father offers is the bitter medicine of truth. His truth hurts, just like surgery hurts. It pains me to say this, but Father is not completely logical in his teachings. I go more deeply in my book Cultural War about this sensitive area of criticizing elders. Briefly, I believe that Father is the Messiah, even though he may make a few mistakes. Critics of the UC always say we do not have a mind of our own. I assure you. I have a mind of my own and believe that it is not a contradiction to say the Messiah can make mistakes. Father's mistakes are not great enough to disqualify him as the eternal savior of mankind. He can and has made physical mistakes like accidentally dropping a glass of juice. I have seen a purple stain on a carpet at Upshur House that Father made when he dropped a glass of grape juice. He has made some tactical errors, such as the communes and MFT of the 1970s.
ADOPTION
He is wrong, I believe, in creating a movement that does not believe in adoption. The concept of blessed couples giving children away to those couples who cannot conceive is so sick I cannot even begin to express how it is beyond my imagination that people could be so cruel. Or perhaps arrogance. I guess they do this because they think their blood and ancestry is so better than others. This whole thing has the nauseating flavor of the blood lineage rantings of Hitler's Mein Kampf. Father is often portrayed as a Hitler by the Media and this disgusting habit of members giving away their children doesn't help stop that image. Father is not evil, but this tradition in the UC must stop. There are tens of millions of homeless and orphaned children in the world. Members should not only not give their children away, but adopt more to bring their families to 12 or more. I know of one couple who was promised a child and the sister who was going to give them a baby had a miscarriage. This tragic couple is now in their 50s and the last time I heard they had not received a child and probably never will. They will never know the joy of having a family. They are both graduates of the seminary and have been leaders in the UC for years. At a website (www.worldcarp.org/Lesson5.html) for C.A.R.P., the UC's college organization, it says, "Physically, true love means that all family members are biologically connected in one blood lineage. Even adoptions, in the event of premature death or infertility, should be from one's extended family." I understand that Col. Pak's daughter who was blessed to Hyung-Jin, the son to True Parents that died when he was 17 and was given a child by one of Father's children. All the other babies that were given to church members were not from "one's extended family." Does the writer at CARP mean that in the ideal world babies will only be given in extended families? Does he or she mean that the blessed couples in the UC are an "extended family"? There is no explanation here on this delicate and massively important matter. It is a fault of the UC that it often does not give clear and detailed and practical advice on all the aspects of life.
Is Rev. Moon Perfect?
Nothing happens without leadership. God has sent Father to lead mankind into a glorious new world. The future ideal world will be "perfect." What does that mean? It does not mean that there will be no erasers on pencils. It does mean that there will no locks on doors. The word "perfect" is good in many ways, but because it has the connotation of no mistakes, we can't really use the word. A better word is "mature." Mankind's problems derive from immaturity. Rev. Moon is spiritually mature. He makes mistakes, like all people do. Even Jesus should have done some things differently. Moon and Jesus' hearts are pure and they are channels for God to speak through about key ideas God wants mankind to hear.
WOMAN PRESIDENT
A mistake Rev. Moon has made recently is to push the idea that some women should take leadership over men. This violates the logic of the Principle and makes him look confusing because he speaks so strongly in many of his speeches that women are flesh and should not usurp men's position as bones. He ends a speech he gave in 2000 saying, "Distinguished guests: We cannot fight the communist world with guns and swords or any other means of physical force. We must fight them with love." How do we do love? He says we must count on women for leadership: "history took a mistaken course as a result of Eve's error at the beginning, so in the Last Days women need to take the lead in overcoming conflict and strife in the age of division with their motherly love and create a new history of reconciliation and unity. The mission of women is to educate and restore young men and women, who are in the position of being their children, and even their husbands in order to realize the ideal of the Kingdom of Heaven."
This is nonsense. Men must take leadership and women must return home after so many have tried to twists themselves into the feminist and communist ideology that women compete with men in the marketplace. True love is women in the home and men fighting the wars. Restoration of Eve is not for women to reenact the fall and dominate men, but to submit to their man unlike Eve who did not submit to Adam. By saying this I am not being illogical and saying Rev. Moon is not the messiah. He is. But he is also a man who sometimes makes mistakes. The cup is half full with him and Jesus.
