No matter what arguments you choose to use to rationalize the merits of animal experimentation, it all boils down to whether animals should be forced to die for OUR sins.
No matter what I MAY gain from an animals death, I certainly do not support the theory that the human species is superior and therefore all other life forms must provide for me.
I cannot even fathom how the average human being can remain totally nonchalant at the suffering animals endure for our slightest whims...animals skinned for fur to make a woman more desirable. I must be a freak to not find dead animals sexy. Rabbits blinded, by the MILLIONS, to test EYE MAKE-UP products! Can we really, in good conscience, believe that our VANITY is more valuable than another species LIFE? It is exactly THAT rationality that supports my belief that the human species is far from superior.
When is the last time you were lied to by an animal?
When is the last time an animal cheated or scammed you?
When is the last time you were threatened with extinction by an animal?
When is the last time you saw an animal polluting the planet?
Man believes he is smarter than animals, and therefore rationalizes that it is permissable to use them for any purpose he sees fit. Their pain and suffering are of little consequence to him. There's one major flaw in Man's rationale, however.
He is judging the animal's intelligence by typically pompous HUMAN standards. If you asked a DOG who was smarter, man or dog, HE would say the DOG, because it can bury a bone and find it 6 months later. He can be dropped off miles from home and find his way back without a map. A dog doesn't NEED to drive a car or play baseball. A CAT would argue that HE is smarter because he always lands on his feet.
Do I need to go on?
What about the moral issue? Who is superior there?
Show me a human that will devote their life to you, loving you unconditionally, despite your race, religion and creed and despite any and all of your faults (obesity, body odor, bad personality, poverty, baldness, criminal record, etc.) ...I doubt if you will EVER find one, with the possible exception of your MOTHER. Yet MILLIONS of abandoned dogs and cats wait in the shelter's death row, literally DYING to do just that.
How do we, the SUPERIOR SPECIES, reward them?
I think you know the answer.....
