Star Trek is no doubt the premier Cult Classic. Its philosophy, its technology, its roster of actors (Some of which have themselves become cultural icons), to multiple TV pilots and series and a plethora of feature films! Gene Roddenberry is revered by many Trekkies as something akin to a visionary surpassing such historical figures as Jesus and Ghandi.
One of its prevailing winning qualities which has captivated fans for decades has been the fact that Star Trek is more about interperonal relationships (An inter-galactic Soap Opera?) and an ideaology promoting human evolution than "space gadgets" and aliens.
Star Trek has historically been focussed more toward exploring the inner space of one's subjective universe than charting the objective universe of outer space.
