Hugh, Frances, Sara & Gus News!

Long time no see! I guess folks were beginning to wonder if this page would ever be updated. The last update was back in December of 1999, and a LOT has happened since then! Even though this is a Spring/Summer update, I'll still bring you up to date from December, here's what's been happening....
JANUARY: Hugh, Frances, Sara and Gus enjoyed a wonderful Millineum New Years Eve on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We were guests of our friends, Karen and Charlie in a plush beach house in Whalehead. The weather was Spring-like at the beach.... Frances celebrated her birthday!....The end of the month brought a 13 inch snow storm to Richmond, with a big ice storm only two days later.... Hugh started a new job as an Account Manager with Adelphia Business Solutions following his retirement from AT&T in December.
FEBRUARY: Sara takes her first steps!.... Frances treated Hugh to a weekend at Lansdowne resort in Leesburg, VA for Valentine's Day, while Nana (pronounce it NAW-NAW, please!) and Grandpa Ted hosted little Miss Sara and Gus.... Mimi and Grandaddy celebrated their wedding anniversary.
MARCH: A fairly uneventful month! Hugh went to training classes in Leesburg for 2 weeks in early March.... Practice begins for Hugh's softball team (ahhh, Spring must be near!) which is sponsored by the Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association.
APRIL: Hugh helped out at the Virginia Model General Assembly at the State Capitol Building in Richmond. The program is designed to give gifted students an educational experience in government. Hugh participated as a mock Senator while a student in high school...All of us visited Mimi and Grandaddy for Easter in Bowling Green. Sara participated in her first Easter egg hunt....Frances, Sara and Hugh traveled to Blacksburg to watch the Virginia Tech Spring Football Scrimage in Lane Stadium. Sara loves Hokie football just as much as mommy and daddy. Good girl!....Hugh's softball team starts what will be a trying season. Most of the team is new and haven't played together before. It shows!
MAY: Hugh and Frances traveled to Duck, NC for a work weekend at the family cottage with Frances' uncle Dave (aka "Dog") while Nana and Grandpa Ted took care of Sara....Sara's uncle Bill and aunt Val paid us a visit, and Sara enjoyed the time with her little cousins Alex and Charlotte.... Hugh traveled to Atlanta on business....Hugh celebrated his birthday with Frances, Sara and Gus during another weekend at Duck, NC!
JUNE: Guess what?!! Sara is going to have a little brother or sister! Frances' ultrasound confirms there is another little one on the way! The due date is mid-January. If it's a little boy, Adam Edward. If it's a little girl, Catherine Frances. We should be able to tell which in September....Frances traveled to Pittsburg with Sara to visit friends Ralph and Sara (another one!)....most of Hugh's cousins gathered at cousin Susan and her husband Jeff's house in Richmond. Cousins and their families came from Bowling Green, Lynchburg, King George and the Richmond area for the annual event....Cousins Beth and Phil are the tentative sponsors for the 2001 party....Frances' brother Chris took some time off to visit his uncle, working in Croatia. He kept in touch via phone and email as he made side trips to other European locales.
JULY: We spent Fourth of July with Mimi and Grandaddy at their beach house in Colonial Beach, VA. Sara enjoyed the pool and Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the huge steamed crab feast supplied by Mimi!...Frances' mom's family gathered in Chesapeake, VA at the home of her Aunt Betty and Uncle Rick for an annual family get-together. Family from as far away as California attended the event....Hugh's Virginia Tech Alumni softball team finished a tough season with a win and two losses in the season-ending tournament.... Hugh and Frances went to a concert on Richmond's Mayo Island with friends Susanne and James. Unfortunately, rain cut the event short.
AUGUST: Hugh and Frances celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary! Hugh and brother Bill will be traveling to Blacksburg on the 27th to see Virginia Tech take on Georgia Tech. Can you believe it's time for college football to start already???
COMING UP....Hugh and Frances headed to more Virginia Tech football games: vs. Rutgers on 9/16, vs. Pittsburgh on 10/28 and vs. the hated University of Virginia on 11/25. Sure is nice to have house-sitters!...Also looking forward to another beach weekend in September with Frances' sister Kari and her husband Tony....Sara is looking forward to the community hayride and Halloween party in October.
