Project Roja Installation of Diamond Plate Door skin
The interior of the Roja although in good condition could use a little sprucing up. With this in mind the lower portions of the doors had seen significant damage due to multiple installations of various speakers. Diamond plate aluminum 1/8th inch can be obtained at any Metal Mart or similar depot. I obtained mine from a sheetmetal workshop that had some that they could spare. It cost $70.00 and they were nice enough to rough cut it into the various sizes I needed for the front doors, back doors, and the hatch.

Since we're to stupid to own a tape measure, and since most of the angles were not standard, we eyeballed most of our measurements. Once we had figured out the cuts we wanted to make, we marked on the back of the diamond plate with a felt tip marker. Since our measurements were not exact We rough cut the metal to our marks.

Once the diamond plate was roughed out we mounted the panels to check the fit.

We marked the outside of the panels with felt tip marker in the places that needed trimming. Then using the trimming saw, hack saw, or the file, we trimmed the panels to fit.

Once the panels were trimmed to fit, we marked the location of the speakers. Special care must be taken to ensure the holes line up with the holes in the doors. I did not want to have to trim the doors sheet metal as well. We drew the speaker hole on the back of the panel. Then we drilled holes along the circumfrance of the new speaker hole. We learned the hard way, the more holes drilled, the less trimming needed once the hole is made. After the holes were drilled we cut from hole to hole.
