Survey on bedside training for the coming PACES
In collaboration with the medical alumni association of CUHK, we have conducted an online Survey on bedside training in preparing for the coming PACES. The purpose, of course, is to draw the attention of these alumni that we are here ready to carry them through the exam, if they want to. A mass email has been sent to medical alumni graduated between 1998-2002 on 2005/6/1, which is also the anniversary of the death of our late colleague, Dr. Kate Cheng. I am very surprised that how come the alumni people know the whole exercise originates from the death of Kate and choose this particular date to send that mass email. Yes, to pass the membership exam on time is one of Kate's wishes, but because of lack of luck, she failed to do so.
If you think the whole bedside is so wonderful and want to give thanks to somebody, please send your bunch of flower to Kate.
Kate is always be with us. She never dies. Never.

The result of the survey is of not much use. It differs not too much from what have we found from previous survey. This is of course a biased survey because of significant non-responder rate (18/700 responded but I don't know why the cuhkmaa people send the mass email to >1000 alumni and 300 of those have invalid email). But actually it does not matter. We are only interested in those who has responded, because it is whom that would potentially join our bedside exercise, isn't it? Now, we know that they are not far away from us (none of the responder comes from HKEC, HKWC), 8 or half of them have no experience before. Consequently, many of the responders will be scared by the talking station, and the remaining half correctly identified that neurology station is the most difficult station. As a result, we will starts our exercise three months before the exam, there are notes for neurology and CVS station that the candidate might want to look at to ¡Â their anxiety, we will practice the talking station via email.
