The day of the protest was simply amazing. After meeting
up with organizer Roderick and the KMD, CUFSA went on to march with a few
hundred more supporters for the movement to oust US troops in the Philippines.
At the end of the protest RJ made his speech and the group evaluated the
day. Not before taking some pictures of the memorial dedicated to Jose Rizal,
Philippine National Hero.
The day concluded with more site seeing in Montreal,
more stories that were shared and a nice ol' trip to McGill University. We
were going to put a Carleton University shirt on one of their statues but
surprisingly no one had one.
The Montreal Trip of 2002 was a complete success.
We learned new things about the French Canadian Culture and at the same
time experienced new things with regards to the peaceful protest of March
17th, 20002.
Lets hope that experiences like this one becomes a tradition
at CUFSA for years to come.
