Religion, spirituality, beliefs, however you choose to refer to it, has always been a touchy subject and it will continue to be just that--touchy. This is due to the way some people have been raised. I am not trying to knock anyone's beliefs, I am simply going to try to shed some light on what some fear because they have been led to believe that any way other than the 'accepted way' is evil or wrong.

Not every belief system is right for every person, and this is something that people need step back and look at. The people who snub their nose at beliefs other than their own need to stop and ask themselves if they are being a good Christian, Catholic, etc when they snub someone else. I mean, according to the way they believe, they are supposed to love everyone. I am in no way putting down the 'orthodoxed' religions, I am simply trying to point something out.

I have had personal experience with being put down for and looked at oddly because of the way I believe. Instead of getting angry and hating those people for telling me that I'm crazy, I just looked at them and said, "If following my heart makes me crazy, then call the men in the little white coats to come and lock me up. Of course I could always call you crazy in return. So that makes us, what--oh yes, equal." That response earned me a few stares, a couple of shrugs, and a million --or so it seemed--questions about my beliefs and why I believe what I do. Though I answered those questions honestly and as best as I could, I had the feeling that I may have had a small impact on how those persons viewed others with different beliefs. At least that is what I would like to think.
