Founders of the firm, Scott B. Cloud and Christopher T. Olsen, attended law school together, where they served as moot court teammates in advocacy competitions throughout the country. Following law school, they each worked for prominent downtown Los Angeles law firms representing clients in various forms of litigation. In 1997, the two joined forces to launch the Law Offices of Cloud & Olsen. In their careers, Mr. Cloud and Mr. Olsen have worked on such high profile cases as the O. J. Simpson civil trial and the Lockheed Stealth Bomber "Skunk Works" litigation. More about their backgrounds and areas of practice is found below. SCOTT B. CLOUD primarily practices in the areas of commercial disputes, products liability, premises liability and construction defect litigation, as well as general liability and potential fraud cases. He also assists charitable organizations in their formation and ongoing activities. His clients are primarily in the manufacturing, retail, construction, insurance and public transportation fields. He is a member of the State Bar of California (1989) and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Cloud graduated in 1985 with a B.A. in business administration from Pepperdine University, where he was a member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society. He received his J.D. in 1989 from Pepperdine University School of Law. While in law school he was awarded the Dean's Scholarship and represented the School of Law in national moot court competitions throughout the country. Memberships include the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Defense Research Institute and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Cloud was born in Appleton, Wisconsin.
CHRISTOPHER TED OLSEN also maintains a civil defense litigation practice, including premises liability, construction defect, commercial dispute, personal injury and environmental law. He is a member of the State Bar of California (1989) and admitted to the U.S. Court Federal claims.
Mr. Olsen graduated cum laude from Elon College in 1986 with a B.A. in political science and a minor in philosophy. He received his J.D. cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1989. While in law school he was vice chairman of the Moot Court Board, a member of the Interschool Moot Court Team, co-chairman of the Honor Board and a member of the Pepperdine law review.
Memberships include the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, the American Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Jamestown, New York.
