The Birth Of Ashleigh
Ashleigh was born on her duedate!  I woke up at around nine o'clock on December 12th because I had an appointment that I had to go to.  I woke up having very light period like cramps.  I just assumed that they were normal cramps since I had my doctor break the mucus plug on the 11th and she told me to expect some light cramping.  Then the contraction started.  They were comming every 45 seconds to a minute apart but they were very light.  I still had no idea that I was in labor!  I drove myself to my appointment that was 15 miles away from my home.  I still wasn't in any pain but the contractions were getting a bit uncomfortable.  After my appointment I drove to the Clinic which is in the hospital only after my mom convinced me to go get check out.    I got to the clinic at around noon.  When I got to the clinic part of the hospital the nurse hooked me up to the contraction counter belt (i'm sure it has a better names than that but you still know what I'm talking about, right?).  They couldn't tell that I was in labor because the belt was higher up on my stomach and the contraction were in the lower part.  Finally my doctor came in and gave me an exam.  I'll never forget when he looked at me and said, "well your between an 8 and a 9.  So we are gonna have a baby real soon!"  I was so shocked!  They rushed me over to the hospital part in a wheelchair with a sheet around me.  Talk about being embarassed.  Once in the room, I *thought* that I had to pee.  My doctor insisted that I didn't have to pee but I could go ahead and try if I wanted to.  So there I sat on the toliet and then it hit me that my doctor was right I didn't have to pee, I needed to push.  So the nurses and the doctor got me into bed and my doctor said, "whatever you feel like doing, do it"  I was again kinda shocked.  I had watched the baby story the whole 40 weeks of my pregnancy and I figured that my doctor would have atleast told me when to push!  I pushed no more than 10 times and I had a gorgeous little girl and I did it on my own.  No Drugs, no holding anyone's hand, no yelling, nothing.  I was the proudest person in the world that day for I had became a mommy!  Ashleigh was born at 1:55p.m. with dark blue eyes, dark hair, 19 and a quarter inches long, and 6 pounds 12 ounces.
