Cucrodh Eclipse Of The Sun

'Reef' was sired by our imported dog, Coomablue Bola Boy, and his dam was our home-bred Cucrodh Phantazia. He was born on 28th February 1999.

Reef lives with Mike and Rose Condie, their daughters Robyn and Kerri and the Kurgan Border Collies.

Reef's pastimes are practicing the world reknowned 'cattle dog stare' on the Border collies and stealing coal out of the bucket to crunch up and grind into the carpet. He also works sheep and has started on cattle.

At the Scottish Kennel Club Championship Show on his half-year birthday Reef was Best Puppy and Reserve Best Dog in the Any Variety Not Separately Classified Rare Breeds (Pastoral) classes. At 7 months Mrs Jane Wilson-Stringer gave him Best Puppy and Best AVNSC Rare Breeds (Pastoral) at Working and Pastoral Breeds Of Scotland Championship Show and he was Best Any Variety Not Separately Classifed at Bathgate Open Show in May 2000, judged by Mr John Hambleton. He did not do so well at Crufts - second in his class and beaten for Best Puppy In Breed by his sister, Millie.........some good old sibling rivalry!

A few days after Crufts Mike discovered that Reef had a couple of fractured toes which he had sustained shortly before Crufts when a recalcitrant bullock had swung round on him, gored his shoulder and, evidently, stepped on his foot. Mike says if one of his Border collies had sustained such an injury he would have been in no doubt about it. However, until Mike pressed Reef's foot when drying it and he squealed Mike had had no other indication that Reef had any injuries. Sometimes these dogs can be too hardy for their own good!
