Lucas Terrier Scrapbook
Sir Jocelyn would not keep a dog with an uncertain temperament because, he said, they were too busy looking for a fight to keep their mind on the job and given the way he transported his dogs mayhem would ensue if a fight broke out.
Photograph taken on 18th March 1957 during a rabbit clearance at Nomansland Common, Near St. Albans, Hertfordshire. In the photograph are Sealyham terriers, Lucas terriers, beagles, a 'speagle' (spaniel/beagle) and one or two of indeterminate breeding.
Watching, left to right, are Sir Jocelyn Lucas, Mrs Ashworth, the Hon. Mrs Alec Plummer, Mr E. B. Wakefield M.P., Mrs Assheton-Smith and Mr D. H. Gardner, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Provincial Pests Officer.
