Lucas Terrier Scrapbook

Fielder's Polo was born on 12.6.95 in Cornwall. He was bred by Mrs Gillian Fielder, sired by the tan dog, Plummer's Bugsie Malone, ex Mrs Fielder's red and white bitch, Fielder's Kate of Trevethan. Polo was BIS at the first Lucas Terrier Club Show in 1992 and repeated this win in 1993. It was no secret that Polo's temperament was not his fortune and there was some resistance, for this reason, to using him in the breeding programme. However, he was used and none of his offspring inherited his surly outlook.

Polo was originally owned by Mrs and Mrs S. Dettmer then went on to live with Mr Jason Barnes. Jason was keen to work Polo and entered him to fox. This is not an area of work which Sir Jocelyn Lucas envisaged for his Lucas terriers, which worked primarily above ground. Polo, however, was successfully entered below ground as the photograph below testifies.
