The Top 10 Reason The Cubs Rule!!!
1. Although Sammy Sosa was beaten out by Mark McGwire in the Home Run Race that one faithful year, Sammy scored 66 Home Runs throughout the season topping Roger Maris and Babe Ruth. And might I add, unlike McGwire, Sosa didn't need steroids to hit those homers.
2. No matter how bad a season has been for the Cubs, the fans keep on coming back, the faith of a Cubs fan is truly great unlike that of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Montreal Expos, and the Baltimore Orioles.
3. The Cubs aren't winning a heck of alot are they? That makes them even better. The Cubs, unlike the Yankees and Braves have a dream. If the Cubs ever win the World Series again, people will be surprised and happy, yet with the Yanks and Braves, it gets boring.
4. You ever notice that on those cartoons that whenever there's a baseball game the team that wins is wearing a blue uniform with a big "C" on the cap? That means Cubs no matter if they actually say what the team is called or not. I give all of those films 2 thumbs up.
5. Sammy Sosa... anybody heard of him??? Apparently they have, because whenever the Cubs have a road game it seems that all the fans in the other cities cheer for him more then any other road player in the game... "Sammy, Sammy, Sammy!!!"
6. Next to the Yankees, the Cubs have the most historical team in Major League Baseball. What with Ron Santo, Billy Williams, and Earnie Banks, who needs Joe Dimmagio or old whats his face?
7. Instead of going for a newer and fancier ball park, the Chicago Cubs prefer to stay playing at historic Wrigley Field, the oldest ball park other then Yankee stadium still in existence, but does Yankee stadium have ivy growing all around the outfield?
8. Wrigley Field food is the bomb. Not like any of those cheap imitation concession stands, I recommend the pizza over the Chicago Style Hot Dogs. Delicious. The only bad part is that with so many fans filing in you might have to wait awhile.
9. The pitching staff has proved to be not as perfect as that of the Daimondbacks, however, Jon Lieber has played in three all star games and in each one had atleast three strike outs in the one inning played and Kerry Wood threw 20 strikeouts in one game tying the record.
10. Who can forget Harry Carry? That man dedicated his life to broadcasting and through all the coughing and hacking and the April coldness of Chicago still kept the fans entertained yelling "Cubs Win Cubs Win, Holy Cow!" His memory will be in our hearts forever.
