Here are some Campfire Recipes passed along our way
Applesauce Doughnuts
large strips of foil
1 dozen large cinnamon sugar doughnuts
1 jar applesauce
Slice the doughnuts in half like a sandwich and pour about 1/2 cup applesauce on one half of the doughnut and then place the other half on top. Wrap up completely in the foil and then heat in the coals for 10-15 minutes. (Campfire should be burned down to just hot coals.) Open the foil packet and enjoy!
Orange Eggs
Large Navel Orange.
2 strips of bacon.
one egg.
Instructions Cut top off of orange and eat the contents of the orange. Save the cut off part of the orange. Line the inside of the orange with the two strips of bacon and put the egg in the center. Cover with saved orange part. Place in coals of the fire for about 5 or so minutes turning occasionally.
You might want to cook the bacon a little in a frying pan before you line the inside of the orange.
Ziploc Omelet
1. Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.
2. Add in variety of prepared ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc. and shake.
3. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.
4. Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
5. Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.
6. Can be kept in cooler until the morning!
Boy Scout Pizzas
1 pkg. Hamburger Buns (16 Pizzas)
Spagetti Sauce
Shredded Cheese (mozerella/cheddar)
Pepperoni, Sausage, Beef, and any other toppings you desire.
Equipment
Dutch Oven or Metal Box Oven
Flat Cookie Sheets
Pot Holders
Good Ole Hot Coals Instructions Open Hamburger Buns and place on the cookie sheets. Spread the Spagetti sauce on each bun, add cheese, then pile on the toppings of your choice. Place the pan into the oven for approx. 8-10 min. Check on pizzas until they are brown around the edges. When brown, remove them from the oven and enjoy!
Chicken Quesadillas
4-5 small flour or corn tortillas
1 small onion
1 6-ounce can of chicken
4 ounces Monterey Jack cheese

1.) Dice the onion.
2.) Thinly slice the cheese.
3.) Drain the canned chicken.
4.) Sprinkle cheese, onion, and chicken on half of an open-faced tortilla.
5.) Fold tortilla in half.
6.) Wrap in foil.
7.) Place in hot coals for 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
One-Pot Pasta
4 cups water
2 cups tortellini
2 tablespoons dried, minced onion
2 tablespoons crushed, red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (2.4ounce) package tomato-with-basil soup mix
1 teaspoon oregano, dried
1 teaspoon dried minced garlic
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1.) Boil 4 cups water in a Dutch oven.
2.) Add pasta, onion, red pepper flakes, and salt.
3.) Let cook for 10 minutes (or until tender).
4.) Add soup mix, oregano, and garlic.
5.) Let cook for 5 minutes.
6.) Stir in cheese and ground red pepper
Roasted Corn on the Cob

Cut the "hair" end of the corn off. Soak in bucket of water for twenty minutes. Place corn directly on coals, turning frequently. Done in 10 to 20 minutes.
Orange Half Muffins

instant muffin mix
tin foil
Cut an orange in half and take out the insides. Put prepared muffin mix in one half of the orange. Put the other half back on the orange and wrap foil around the whole thing. Put in hot coals or off the side or on a rack to bake the muffin inside of the orange shell. This is wonderful and gives the muffin a zesty taste.
Dough Boys

Make biscuit dough mix according to the directions on the box or a recipe. Take a hot dog and wrap the biscuit dough around the hot dog (completely or just a center wrap). Be careful not to put too much dough on or your hot dog will not cook. Toast your "dough boy" over hot coals until it is cooked through and golden brown on the outside. Serve with catsup or mustard. Eat up.
Ramen Noodle Surprise
4 pkgs of Top Ramen Beef Noodles
2 cans of Hormel Roast Beef in Gravy
1 Large can of Chop Suey Vegetables
2 Beef Ramen Noodle Seasoning Packets from noodles
1 small can of beef gravy
7 cups of water
First, bring water to a boil, break up the Ramen noodles slightly(don't pulverize) Add the noodles to the water and cook for only 2 minutes, and drain. Add the drained noodles, both cans of Roast Beef in gravy, 1 can of beef gravy, Chop Suey Vegetables, and the two seasoning packets from the Ramen noodles (don't use all four packets, it would be too salty) Heat thoroughly through and Serve

Campfire Banana Splits a.k.a. Banana Smores a.k.a. Banana Boats
1 Banana
3 Small Hershey's Chocolate Squares
10 Miniature Marshmallows
10" x 10" piece of aluminum foil
First, cut of the top stem of the banana at the very top of the banana. Then Split the banana down the center ( Don't cut all the way through, leave a little on each end ). Place the banana in the center of the aluminum foil, place the chocolate pieces, and marshmallows in the banana. Bring ends of foil together to form a triangle, and fold all ends together to seal the banana in a foil package. Place packages on hot coals (not directly in the fire) for 10 - 15 minutes, turning occasionally.

With a knife, cut a 3/4 inch "V" shaped channel into the top (inner part of curve) of the banana and remove flesh. Place mini-marshmallos, nuts, chocolate chips, or what have you in the banana. Replace slice of flesh, so that banana is stuffed. Wrap with tin foil and place in coals of campfire. Banana will lay on its "side", roast each side five minutes. Remove with tongs. Slice through tin foil on "top" of banana, and peel foil back. Enjoy.
Brown Bears

wooden dowel for roasting stick
Stretch biscuit dough and wrap around a wooden dowel and roast over coals until brown. Remove biscuit from dowel, spray with margarine and roll in cinnamon and sugar mixture. Fun to make and tasty too...
Singing Apples

Spear a Macintosh apple on a strong stick. Cook apple over hot coals until skin is burned and the apple "sings." Remove from fire and carefully peel off cooked skin. Roll apple in cinnamon & sugar and eat--careful it may be hot.
Kid's Trail Mix
4 c Chex cereal
1/2 c Dried fruit bits
1/2 c Raisins
1/2 c peanuts
1/2 c M & Ms
Put into a large ziploc bag and shake to mix.
Ice Cream in a Ziplock Bag
One small seal top plastic bag
One gallon size seal top plastic bag
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup of milk
Crushed ice
8 tablespoons ice-cream salt(rock salt)
One tablespoon peanut butter
In a small seal top plastic bag, pour 1/2 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Close the bag and place in a gallon-size seal top bag. Add some crushed ice and 8 tablespoons of ice cream salt(rock salt).
Close the top and shake being careful not to bust the bags. You could also add one tablespoon of peanut butter... yummy!
Fudge in a Ziplock Bag
3 oz pkg of cream cheese
1 lb box of powdered sugar
2 packets of cocoa mix or 1/2 cup of cocoa
2 tablespoons of butter
2 1 gal zip lock storage bags
Place all ingredients in one of the zip lock bags, close and put it in the next zip lock bag. Give everyone a turn at squishing the bags to mix. Mix until smooth... Enjoy!
Marshmallow Apple
1 apple per person
1 marshmallow per person
Core each apple. Toast marshmallow. Stuff the apples with the toasted marshmallows.
Hobo Popcorn
1 tbsp popcorn kernels
18" x 18" square of heavy or doubled foil
1 tsp oil
butter and salt if desired for seasoning
1.) In the square of foil, add popcorn kernels and oil together.
2.) Bring foil corners together to make a pouch.
3.) Seal the edges by folding, but allow room for the popcorn to pop.
4.) Tie each pouch to the end of a skewer.
5.) Hold the pouch over hot coals.
6.) Shake constantly until all the corn has popped.
7.) Season as desired with butter and salt.
