Additional 2006 Summer Activities planned by Pack 883 (following this picnic) are:

 

1.      Frederick Keys Baseball Game (Keys versus Potomac) & optional sleepover on Saturday, June 24 at 6:30 pm.

Note: Please wear your Class A uniform to this event. Either car-pool or meet outside (West side – main entrance) Harry Grove Stadium (exit 54 on I-70 in Frederick, MD) between 6:00 and 6:15 p.m. Tickets may be purchased on line (www.frederickkeys.com) and printed on your home computer or purchased at the stadium (seats are unreserved general admission). The plan is for all to meet outside and go in together. The sleepover is optional – but a sleeping bag and tent are necessary items if you choose to stay.

 

2.      Ft. McHenry Civil War Tattoo Ceremony on Saturday, July 15 at 6:30 pm.

Note: Please wear your Class A uniform to this event. Either car-pool or meet at Ft. McHenry by about 6:15 for a special Civil War Tattoo ceremony at 6:30 that will involve patriotic music, historical narration, bayonet drill and trooping of the line. If you’d like to arrive earlier, fife and drum music will be played by the Patapsco Guard throughout the day. Then if you’d like, stay for the Flag Changing program at 7:20 p.m.

 

3.      Decorate and fly rockets at Freedom Park on Saturday, July 29 at 2:00 pm.

Note: Class B uniforms may be worn. The pack has 28 rockets donated by Mike Ginther that boys will decorate prior to blasting them off at Freedom Park. Please meet at the far end of the paved road. The pack will supply the paint, brushes, rocket engines and launcher(s). Bring something to drink and a snack for yourself, if you wish to do so.

 

4.      Fishing at Piney Run Park on Saturday, August 12 at 4:00 pm.

Note: Class B uniforms may be worn. Meet at the docks - bring your fishing pole and enthusiasm, Pack 883 will furnish some warm worms and cool drinks!

 

5.      Raingutter Regatta (church picnic area) on Sunday, August 20 at 2:00 pm.

Note: Class B uniforms may be worn. Boys will race small boats side by side (powered by wind – boy’s) in ten-foot plastic rain gutters. The pack will provide styrofoam material to be carved for the boat hull, a soda straw for the mast, paper for the sail, knife and pattern, and glue gun.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Summertime Award Requirements:

Boys need to attend 3 of the planned summer activities to earn the Summertime Award pin.

Dens need 50% of boys in the den to attend 3 activities to earn the Summertime Award den ribbon.

Pack 883 will earn the Summertime Award by planning and holding 3 activities during June, July, and August.

 

Note: Attendance at the pack picnic will count as one summer activity and boys attending Day Camp or Camp Oest will be credited for their attendance as well.
