Notes about the Packing List

Dillybags: This should be a cloth drawstring bag as plastic bags will not last for the week and the plastic does not allow damp eating gear to dry properly which can lead to health risks.

Bedding: It is preferred that the Cubs take a lilo or camp stretcher to put their sleeping bag on rather than a foam mattress. There are advantages and disadvantages with each type but if the weather is wet a foam mattress will soak up water / condensation which will result in a wet / uncomfortable Cub Scout. If a lilo is taken, Cub Scouts must also have the facilities to inflate it. Some lilos are self-inflating or are easy to blow up - others aren’t.

A Beanie is recommended, as a lot of heat can be lost through the head. Wearing a woollen beanie at night can minimise this and help keep a Cub Scout warm in bed.

Health Forms: Please ensure that all health forms are returned before the end of term. The forms must be returned to your Leader before the end of term or, if you do not have one of your own Leaders attending, return it directly to the Leader who is co-ordinating the Cuboree for your Pack.

Carry Bags: As the Cub Scouts will be travelling by bus the Cuboree organisers have suggested the Cub Scouts use a suitcase. Please do not use the striped plastic carry bags as they will not last the duration of the camp. Cub Scouts should pack their bag themselves under supervision of a parent. This way they will know what they have and where it is. (Remember that your Cub Scout will need to be able to carry it!).

District Badges: One popular activity among Cubs and Scouts at large events is swapping district badges. Cub Scouts can swap badges with friends they make from other Packs and add to their camp blanket collection. Cubs from 1st Mount Waverley can purchase District badges ($TBA each) through their Leaders.

Do Not Bring

No spending money, aerosol cans (including deodorant), radios, pocket knives, electronic games, or mobile phones.
If any of these, or other items considered inappropriate, are found, they will be confiscated for the duration of the camp and returned to the Cub Scout's parent afterwards. No responsibility will be accepted for any money or valuables.
No lollies are to be brought - If any are found they will be collected and shared with the whole Pack.

Welfare

BED WETTING: We quietly and discretely deal with this occurrence on camp. Even if your child is only an occasional bed wetter, there are a couple of things that we ask you to do:

  • Explain to your child that it is not a problem and that if they do have an incident they should let their Leader know.
  • Note the possibility of bedwetting on the Medical form.
  • Please send Extra Pyjamas, sleeping bag and 4 pairs of night time PullUps or similar

The Cuboree is making arrangements to have wet sleeping bags laundered during the day if necessary

Medication

MEDICATION must be clearly marked with Cub Scouts’ name and dose and handed to the Leaders before departure. Cub Scouts are NOT to carry any medication without the leaders knowledge. Please ensure that details are included on the health form.

Theme Song: The Cup Of Life (Ricky Martin)

The cup of life, this is the one,
Now is the time, don't ever stop.
Push it along, gotta be strong,
Push it along, right to the top.
That feeling in your soul is gonna take control.
Nothing can hold you back if you really want it
I see it in your eyes, you want the cup of life.
Now that the day is here, gotta go and get it!

Do you really want it? (yeah)
Do you really want it? (yeah)

Chorus:
Here we go, olay, olay, olay
Go, go, go, olay, olay, olay
Tonight's the night, we're gonna celebrate!
The cup of life, olay, olay, olay

The cup of life, it's still the time,
It's here, it's now, turn off the lights.
Push it along; then let it roll,
Push it along, go, go, go.
And when you feel the heat, the world is at your feet.
No one can hold you down if you really want it.
Just steal your destiny right from the hands of fate.
Reach for the cup of life 'cause your name is on it.

Do you really want it? (yeah)
Do you really want it? (yeah)

Chorus:
Here we go, olay, olay, olay
Go, go, go, olay, olay, olay
Tonight's the night, we're gonna celebrate!
The cup of life, olay, olay, olay

You feel in your soul, it's gonna take control.
Nothing can hold you back if you really want it.
I see it in your eyes, you want the Cup of life.
Now that the day is here, we're gotta go and get it!

Do you really want it? (yeah)
Do you really want it? (yeah)
Do you really want it? (yeah)
YEAH, YEAH

Chorus:
Here we go, olay, olay, olay
Go, go, go, olay, olay, olay
Tonight's the night, we're gonna celebrate!
The cup of life, olay, olay, olay

Un, Dos, Tres, olay, olay, olay
Un, Deux, Trois, olay, olay, olay
Tonight's the night we're gonna celebrate!
The Cuboree, olay, olay, olay
