 2009 BILLY CART DERBY

Monash District has another Billy Cart Derby planned for August 2009. As a lead up to the event we are holding a sleepover with a campfire and video on Saturday night and a Scouts Own and some games on Sunday morning.

Bunnings generously assisted us to build four new Billy Carts during term 2 and supplied all the time and materials. This has allowed us to retire some of the older carts.

2005 District Billy Cart Derby

Monash District held a Billy Cart Derby at Clarinda in November. One of the teams earned this trophy.

2003 District Billy Cart Derby

Mount Waverley and Stonnington Districts combined to hold a Cub Scout Billy Cart Derby at Officer on 15th June. As a lead up to the event we held a sleepover with a campfire and video on Saturday night and a Scouts Own and some games on Sunday morning.

We had 4 billy carts from the 2001 Derby and we built a fifth billy cart as we had an additional team this year. The Cub Scouts were asked to submit names for the Billy Carts. 26 Entries were received and the Cubs voted for the best 5 names.

Five teams from 1st Mount Waverley competed against 15 other teams from Mount Waverley and Stonnington Districts in five different events: Two Cross Country tracks, a Downhill race, Obstacle Course and the King of The Mountain endurance trial.

Congratulations to James, Andrew, Mitchell and Mitchell who won 1st place in the 2003 Obstacle Course with their Billy Cart "EMU" (named because an emu runs fast and can't go backwards). This year the scoring was changed with a trophy being awarded for each race rather than overall. Here's a look at our trophy.

2001 District Billy Cart Derby

[Second Place Trophy for Best Presented Billycart]

Leading up to the 2001 Billy Cart Derby we rebuilt four of the billy carts and repainted them. The Pack earned two trophies in the District Cub Scout Billy Cart derby organised by Mount Waverley and Stonnington Districts at Officer in June.

One was for second place for the best looking billycart [left]

The other was for coming third in the races. [right]
