Yellow Cord

Quality Awards
Dolphin Awards
Pack Trophies
Leaders Awards

Some of the most important qualities in Scouting are Teamwork, Leadership and "Doing Your Best". We have a number of programs in our Pack that recognise the efforts of the Cub Scouts in developing these qualities.

The Yellow Cord was the highest award in the Cub Scout section and challenges the Cub Scouts to have a solid knowledge of basic Scouting skills in Navigation, First Aid, Construction, Law and Promise, develop their Leadership skills in the Pack, become a positive role model to their peers and younger Cub Scouts and to use their knowledge to assist other members of the Pack and become a useful member of the wider community. The Yellow Cord was introduced in 1995 and discontinued in 2005.

The Grey Wolf Award was introduced in January 2005 and replaced the Yellow Cord as the highest award in the Cub Scout section.

Each term there is an inter-six competition between the Sixes. Bones are awarded for the qualities expected from Cub Scouts such as neat and complete uniforms, punctuality, involvement, good behaviour, initiative, teamwork and good citizenship. Bones are also awarded for inspection and occasionally for Pack games.

Scouts Australia Quality Awards

Each year each section is assessed on measurable qualities such as the number of Cub Scouts in the Pack, number of outings and Pack Holidays, number of Leaders, number of Cub Scouts who earn a boomerang each year, Pack Councils, retention rate and variety and quality of programs. After 2003 the badge requirements were revised to measure only membership retention.

If the section meets a certain standard it is awarded a Quality award for that year and each member is presented with a badge which they wear on their right hand pocket for the year.

Our Pack has earned many Quality awards which reflects the consistently high standard of Scouting we provide for our youth members.
