                    *** PackMaster 2000 ReadMe ***
                                12/20/99

The following supplements information provided in the users manual:

 (1) Many of the new data fields in this version of PackMaster were
added at the request of BSA and will be transmitted in the new electronic
recharter and advancement reports, which will load directly into their
ScoutNET 2000 computer system. ScoutNET will be fielded at the local
council offices in 1999. Some fields are mandatory. PackMaster allows
you to optionally bypass entry of the ScoutNET required data fields, but
the program will prevent you from generating electronic versions of the
recharter and advancement reports until all ScoutNET required data has been
 entered.

 (2) If most or all of your scouts and adults share the same telephone Area
Code, set that under "File/Preferences" and PackMaster will use it as the
default on data entry dialogs. Also, you can optionally turn off printing
of Area Codes on your reports.

 (3) If your pack is located outside of the United States, be sure to set
your country code under "File/Preferences". Also, enter overseas phone
numbers with the country code number in the "Country" field and the city
code and number (separated by a hyphen, period, or slash) in the phone
 number field.

 (4) The default background color is black. If desired, you can change that
 to white under "File/Preferences".

 (5) If necessary, you can adjust mailing label alignment via top and left
margin settings under "File/Preferences". There is also a "Print width"
option if you need to widen or narrow the printed area.

 (6) On displays/reports, the "SSN" label means "Social Security Number".
Entries in this field are always option.

 (7) We have modified PackMaster to incorporate some BSA changes to the
ScoutNET interface specifications, particularly regarding the way Tiger
Adults are handled. Please make the following changes to the user's manual:

 a. Page 19, para. 5.1c and para. 5.1d, add the following to both sections:

NOTE: If the scout is a Tiger and the parent will be the Tiger Adult partner,
check the "Tiger Adult" box. PackMaster will create an adult leader record
for the parent and assign a position of "Tiger Adult". When the scout later
moves up to Cubs, then the next time you update the scout's personal data
record (i.e., display the record and click OK), PackMaster will automatically
remove the "Tiger Adult" position from the parent's adult leader record.

 b. Page 28, para. 8.1a(1), add the following:

NOTE: If you don't want your Tiger Adults listed with the other pack leaders
on adult leader reports, turn off the "Pack Leader" check boxes. Tiger Adults
will still be listed on the recharter selection dialog.

 c. Page 41, para. 10.7d, add the following just prior to the last paragraph:

NOTE: When you move forward from the "Recharter Information" dialog, Pack-
Master will display a "Tiger Adult Partner" dialog that lists the Tiger Den
Coordinator plus all adults with a position of Tiger Adult. This dialog helps
you ensure that you have a sufficient number of Tiger Adults for your Tiger
Scouts. If you have an adult who is the partner for two or more Tigers (e.g.,
a parent of twins), you can indicate that by highlighting the adult and
assigning him a higher number. PackMaster will show the overall status at
the bottom of the display (i.e., number of Tigers versus number of Tiger
Adults). Tiger Adults are automatically registered as "Multiples", which
means that they do not have to pay.

 (8) We are VERY much interested in user ideas and suggestions. This
newest version of our popular PackMaster software contains dozens of
suggested improvements we received from Scouters like yourself. If you
have ideas on how we can further improve our software products, please
let us know. Our Web Site (www.troopmaster.com) has a comment area
that is ideal for this purpose, or you can e-mail us directly at
(tsi@troopmaster.com). If you do not have access to an on-line service,
please call or write to us at the address on the manual cover.

We will occasionally make minor changes to PackMaster 2000 and produce
a program update (e.g., Version 1.01, 1.02, etc.). The version number
is shown on the "Help/About" dialog. Whenever we produce an update,
we will make a free "patch" available for registered users to download
from our Web Site (www.troopmaster.com). If we have your current e-mail
address, we will send you a message advising you of the update.

Of course, when we develop the next major version, will will mail upgrade
announcements advising you of the new features and upgrade prices.

If you find any errors in this program, please report them. Our goal is
 a perfect piece of software!
