| The "strengthing" (if you will) in Egypt occured gradually between the late Predynastic Period and Early First Dynasty. Some argue that the greatest achievement of Egypt's early rulers was to forge not only a powerful state, but also a national consciousness across regions that were widely seperated and the had strong local customs. Many classic institutions of Egyptian government were developed during this period. The Step Pyramid of King Djoser at Saqqara was built during this time as well. |
