GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY
THE OPENING
In this Grand Theft Auto you play as an Italian gangster named Tommy Vercetti. At first you are picked up by a friend and you are assigned a drug deal. But the deal is jacked and you are ambushed by the Columbians and you lose the money and your friend/boss �Sonny� orders you to retrieve the money. Then afterwards you get missions from others. This game pretty much puts you in a crime family lifestyle that takes place in �80s Miami (Vice City).
GAMEPLAY
This game is quite similar to Grand Theft Auto 3, but with a lot more new features. For example you can now steal Motorcycle, Helicopters�you can blow out tires, windshields, shoot people THROUGH their car�and probably the most popular that you can walk into buildings (not all but a good amount of them).
The game is one I would recommend for all to try out, especially if you are a fan of the other GTA�s. But this game isn�t for all ages just to warn you its not made for all ages. I would suggest it be for 12+ year olds. This game includes violence, really bad language, and some sexual content. But beside that fact this game is probably a game that you will never want to put down, after you beat the game, its still just fun killing cops and civilians.
The missions on this game are very widespread, they range from stealing a tank from a parade, assassinating gang leaders, saving fellow gang members, destroying vehicles, and a lot more! Another new feature is that now you are able to buy houses/hideouts for an extra save point. You are also able to buy stores and other public places like The Malibu Club, The Cherry Popper (ice cream factory), The Pole Position (strip club), a XXX Movie Set, and many other locations. Buying some of these locations adds a save point and in some cases can add a few extra missions for you to do.
Although I find it a little stupid that you play in the 80�s but you will soon get used to it. A lot of the GTA3 cars are in Vice City also�they may look different but they are called by the same names. Unlike GTA3 there are only two main islands you can visit on vice city (excluding a few smaller islands).
Another great feature is robbing stores�its been missing from the past GTA games but now its in. You simply just walk in point a gun at the store clerk and they slowly put money on the table. Occasionally you can get a store clerk that stops after a few bundles of money then they hit the alarm, but sometimes you can get thousands of dollars, but then you have to escape and return to your hideout (usually you get 3-4 stars for robbing a store), which can be a difficult task from time to time.
This game can be multi-player if you and your friends can set up a system. For example I played with 2 of my friends and we got only two weapons cheats (no more), and we tried to gather the most broadcast attention (a meter which tells you if you are on local TV, national TV, or even global TV). Another rule we made was you MUST try to get police on you.
GRAPHICS
The graphics are not too much different from GTA3�s graphics, but they have improved some. They have semi-good facial expressions, but the really bad thing is, their fingers are still in one piece. The graphics are not the main part of the GTA series, the excitement of killing random people is. The graphics are not too sparkling but that doesn�t lower the fun of this game. GTA and GTA2 did not have the best graphics in the world but I still find myself playing those games often (classics).
The negative part is that they still didn�t fix the graphic glitches, like falling through the floor, the street turning random colors, just standing inside walls, and the other glitches. This can occasionally effect the gameplay some.
SOUND
The sound is pretty much GTA3 style. But in this game there are many celebrity voice-overs�I read that Burt Reynolds does the voice for the cowboy �Avery�, there are about 10 celebrity voice-over guests on this game. Another AWSOME feature to this game is that the radio actually plays 80�s music (unlike GTA3 plays made-up music), you can hear some of your favorite songs from Run DMC, Motley Crew, Michael Jackson, and a lot more! The sounds pretty much range from gunshots to screams on this game�nothing too dramatic. But from fans of the past Grand Theft Auto games you will be pleased by the new sound system on this new GTA.
CONTROLS
The controls are basic, almost exactly like the GTA3 controls but with a few extra twists. The new add-ons are pretty much that you can crouch (which increases your accuracy with that gun, and also covers you a bit more), bailing from cars, and a few extra minor ones.
This game is a must buy for old fans of the series and for the newcomers. This game will be one of the masterpieces of your PS2 game collection. You will spend hours just going on killing sprees. This game is DEFINATLY a must buy.
