| DOA2:Hardcore Graphics: 9 For PS2 standards, DOA2:H rocks the house! This game has very pretty graphics, as well as good text shading and all that good stuff. Everthing from the characters to the backgrounds is very well done. The only real complaint that I have in this area is the blockiness of some characters. Sometimes when I see Lei Fang bend over, it looks like she has a pointy derierre! But, with that minor issue aside, the graphics are very well done, but you can see a major difference in graphics if you've ever played DOA3. Control: 9.5 The control handles quite nicely. You won't find yourself getting frustrated with the controls at all because the layout can fit anyone's personal preferences. The only little thing to say about controls, is, that when you are doing Tag Team, sometimes the controls can get a little funky. When you go to initiate a tag throw, sometimes you'll find yourself just tagging out, or simply hitting the opponent. Other than that, pretty good controls. Music: 9.5 The music for DOA2:H was nicely done. After all, it did end up getting a CD! The music is very upbeat in most cases. There really aren't any problems with it, but sometimes the music can litterally drive you nuts! Luckily though, you can turn it off in options if you choose to do so. Overall, DOA2:H probably has the best selection of music from any game, IMO. Story: 9.5 Usually, it's hard to find a good storyline in a fighting game, but DOA2:H has you covered in this department. Each fighter has his/her own story, which is revealed through Story mode with CG sequences. This was a real treat for me the first time a picked up this game. So, overall, I don't think DOA would have lasted very long without a story. Very nice! Unlockables: 10 This is where DOA2:H shines. There are over 20 different things that you can unlock in DOA2:H, ranging from extra costumes, to secret characters, to a CG gallery of the babes! This game delivers in this category! Overall: 9.5 This game is very good, and to my knowledge, no other fighting game has flawed the DOA series. DOA is simply the best. You will not be dissapointed in DOA2:H either. This game delivers the fun single player experience, as well as mult-playier experience. So, what are you waiting for, go out and try to find this game, or order it off of your CPU! |
