Hey Everyone--

First, a big round of applause goes out to those of you who actually came to play today....thanks for giving your all, and playing hard despite difficult circumstances.

For those of you who didn't come, we played resucitated roadkill with 3 girls, five guys from the roster, and two, then one pickups.  Again, special thanks go to Jeanie, Michelle, Courtney, Galen, Ray, and Tim for showing up, and special thanks also to Smithers for coming out, and to Kevin for coming out and playing until his injury knocked him out shortly into the game.

Today was as close to playing pure savage as one can get without actually playing savage.  I know I'm aching, and I'm sure those of you who came are too from all the running we had to do the entire game.  Thanks for tuffing it out for the sake of the team.

Considering how shorthanded we were, we did fairly well in losing 15-11. It is definitely a game we should and could have won, but when you have almost no substitutes and no breaks due to lack of attendance, its hard to keep up the entire two hours.  We did jump to an early lead, and at the half it was still 8-7.  However, at 9-9 we hit the wall, again completely understandeable considering how all of us there had to do the work of two or three players due to the lack of attendance today.

Special recognition goes to:

Jeanie, Courtney, and Jeanie-  for tuffing it out, playing well, and making some key grabs when we really needed them.  jeanie came through with some great catches, making me look good a few times after a pass that was, lets just say, less than perfect. courtney also came through with some big catches, catching one right at the endzone that would have been difficult for the ultimate gods themselves to catch.  michelle was in there with good cuts, good defense, and a couple of scores.  Overall, y'all, a great job not even considering the fact that you had to play almost the entire game without rest.  

Galen, Ray, and Tim-- same as above in terms of tuffing it out and playing as best one could when there isn't hardly any chance for a break due to too few players showing up. nice defense and cuts by galen, with him breaking up an opponent's pass on more than one occasion.  nice job by ray of hanging in there, even with a shoulder injury and even without his glasses in the second half.  nice coming through on some endzone passes.  tim, great work in the cup, and good catches helping us move down the field.  Again, great job considering the situation you were put into with almost no chance for a break.

Kevin and Smithers--  thanks go to these guys for coming out and playing for a team whose roster they aren't even on. thanks for coming to play for the sake of the team- its nice to see that kind of loyalty, especially coming from those who aren't even officially on the team. extra credit goes to kevin, who's ankle took a beating in the opening minutes of the game, sidelining him for the rest of the day.  way to take one for the team.  smithers, thanks for the insights, and thanks for helping our offense and defense run as well as could be expected with the limited number of players that we had.

Overall, our offense was patient and moved the disc well.  We need some work on our endzone plays and our cuts at times were a little messy.  however, considering how few of us actually showed up, i'd say we did a pretty good job of it.

As for the defense, the cup worked well for the most part, though we definitely need some more practice so that everyone knows how to play the different positions.  still, it was a gutsy effort when one considers how few people were out on the fields today.

No point in hiding the fact that today was disappointing, since this team was definitely one that we're better than.  But, when so few show up, its difficult to keep up with any team. Therefore, i once more thank all  those who played today-- we might not have won, but your spirit and your play were excellent.  While the outcome of the game was a disappointment, your spirit and play was great.  Thank you.

There are three scheduled games remaining in the regular season.
After today, we have decided that we will not reschedule the last of the 3. Instead, we will forfeit it.  There are two games scheduled for next saturday.  We will see how many people show up and determine from there whether the later game will be forfeited as well.
