Hey Everyone-- Good playing out there today (or yesterday by the time y'all get this)....it was a tough loss, but we really hung in there and played well overall. For those of you not at the game, we lost to High Voltage, the #1 ranked team in our division, by a score of 15-8. However, the score doesn't really reflect the level of our play, since we definitely matched up well with them and could have beaten them if a play or two went the other way. As far as the offense goes, we did a pretty good job. On the plus side, we definitely showed a lot of patience as we worked the other team's cup, and got in some good throws and catches. Overall, a good effort. Some things we'll need to work on are our offense when we get close to our opponent's endzone as well as making cuts when we're facing the cup. We did a fairly good job with both of these things, but there still is some room for improvement, so we'll work on that in the coming weeks leading up to the tournament. In terms of the defense, the team did really good. Granted the score isn't exactly what one would hope for, but several of those points had less to do with them breaking our defense than our opponent's capitalizing on our offensive mistakes close to our own goal. People stuck with their markups pretty well, and they didn't get a ton of easy throws. Basically, then, it was our offensive mistakes that kinda hurt us today and put our defense in a tough spot. Individually, everyone showed a lot of great spirit, and we keep showing signs of progress on our gameplay as the season winds along. A few Plays of the Day: Ouch, Thats Gotta Hurt--- A round of applause for Mao, Megan, and Ray, all of whom took a licking but kept on ticking. Great spirit, guys. Now Thats Some Mad D--- Special recognition goes out to Jeanie and Tim on some awesome defensive play. Jeanie was in there knocking down discs like there was no tommorow... impressive, most impressive. Coming Through in the Clutch--- Some great plays by Courtney, Tom, Galen, Woody, Michelle and Jeff to keep our offense going and our defense running. Awesome job, guys. So Thats Why Maine's the Terror of the Tundra--- Anya, coming through with tuff catch after tuff catch. While those catches did cause more than a little heartburn on the sideline, it was amazing to see Maine consistently come up with them, time after time. Good job. When All Else Fails--- The discless spirit cheer, sometimes accompanied with planned phrases and sometimes just the secret code words of the CUltimate frisbee team that to any outsider would sound like nothing more than random, wordless mumblings...little do they know... Our Fearless Leader (or at least co-leader, but that doesn't sound nearly as impressive)--- Great job by Alan in playing up a step when the team needed it and playing most of the game. Awesome offense as always, and amazing defense, knocking down hucks all over the place. Three cheers to the drivers....that really saved some time, hopefully we can do it that way every week from now on. We have next weekend off, so I encourage everyone to sign up for games on Monday and Wednsday this week, and then come back from Easter break ready to play a doubleheader on the weekend of the 21. See y'all around.
