Hey Everyone-- Awesome game today!!! For those of you who weren't able to come, we came back from a 8-5 deficit at the half to win 14-13 due to time considerations. After holding our own during the first half and preventing the other team from running away with the game, we came out in the second half and, quite frankly, kicked some ass. We outscored Disc Toast 9-5 from halftime on, and I can't think of any point during the game when we were out of flow. We were consistent, patient, and the female component of our team really dominated their matchups. It was really great! As far as our offensive scheme went today, all we can say is "Wow". While there is always room for improvement, the patience we showed for the majority of the game and the consistency that ran throughout were really key to our win. Again, Megan, Anya, Jeanne, and Michelle all deserve massive thanks, since they really were key in breaking the other team's defenses and getting the game going in our direction. Everyone played really well, with few drops and not a lot of bad passes. Overall, then, our offense did really well. The only noticeable weak area was getting the disc into the endzone once we got within five feet of it. However, even that wasn't really that bad, and we eventually got it in each time. In terms of the defense, it was even more impressive than our offensive performance. People really stuck with their men, there weren't a lot of lost points due to hucks, and we really didn't let them get too many easy throws. Special recognition goes to the goal line cup, which, with the score 13-12, completely shut down Disco Toast and allowed us to pull ahead for our margin of victory. Again, great job guys! Everyone played great....who could forget: Matt Austin- Awesome catches, awesome throws, and amazing D as always. Megan- Dominating defense, and great energy as always...keep the cheers from the sidelines coming! Jeff- Great Overall play, always making that key catch to keep our offensive drive going. Great playing today, Jeff. Michelle- All over the field, doing everything- offense, defense, and even getting her second In-the-Back pass block in two weeks (at a key point in the second half)....I think thats some kind of record or something...and way to come through in the endzone. Ray- Excellent job, good cuts with equally impressive catches. Ray missed diving in the puddles, but he made up for that in classic style at the end of the second half with a clutch diving grab in the endzone....awesome effort. Anya- She cuts, she throws, is there anything Maine can't do? Great effort out there, shutting down her matchup and coming through with big catches and big throws when the team really needed it. Tom- Amazing catches, and great defense...and he must have caught at least three endzone passes....he was really able to get by his defender, and wasn't rusty at all as he returned to WAFC play after an extended absence. Great playing! Jeanie- Gave everything she had, and kept her matchups on their toes. Great effort, and instrumental in throwing off the other team by making a 4:3 game possible. And great spirit as always!!! What We've Learned Today: When we play patiently, things go well Keeping the flow of the team is crucial Blood Makes the grass grow We can win, even if there's wind Our women kick WAFC ass!!! Anyways, awesome game today....lets keep this up!!! We'll email you info on next week's game soon. See you on the law school lawn. Dave and Alan
