Another weekend, and another set of victories for CUltimate. We're now 4-0, after taking both games of today's doubleheader. In the first game against the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers, we were able to overwhelm their offense with our cup D, with the help of the windy Anacostia fields. On offense, we tore up their man defense and killed their brief flirtation with the cup. In the end, it was a dominating performance, with our team coming through with a 15-3 stomping. It was actually a very good thing that the score was so lopsided and the game so quick, cuz that way the guys didn't get too tired, and the women had a chance to rest before the next game of the doubleheader. In that second game, we had a tougher time. Playing against Skid Marks, we pretty much were going point for point, with each of those points seeming to last forever. There were more turnovers on each side than I've ever seen in one game. But our cup and man defenses rallied, and our offense was gradually able to wear down their cup. In the end, we were always able to stay just enough ahead or tied with them to come away with a 15-12 hard fought win. As for individual efforts: Anya: Great job as a handler, and some really amazing grabs on the tip of her fingers. Erika: Great way of making defensive bids and hanging in there even when tired. Nice deep offense work as well. Megan: Wonderful popping job on offense today, getting open for the nice mid throws. Nice job in the cup, and good job handling. Jeanie: Great job as a popper and a wing today, getting some key grabs, including one or two in the endzone for a score. Alan: Alan kept the offense going with his handling abilities, and knocked everything out of the air as deep deep (well, except for that one throw...) Dave: Nice popping cuts, some good catches, and a nice deep flick to Jeff in the endzone. Jeff Crum: Jeff was all over the place today, catching all kinds of passes and shutting down our opponents long throws. Frosh Jeff: Great attitude, great catches, and nice work in the cup and as a deep man. Rob: Awesome hustle out there today, making some really good deep and mid cuts and coming through in the cup. Sarge: Nice bids as always, and good work on defense, whether in the cup or as a wing. Galen: Great handling, and nice mid cuts, as well as some really impressive work on defense, with some nice sprints to the disc. Tim: Nice job helping set up the offense and defense, and tough playing out there on both sides of play. Woody: In his first game out for the WAFC team in a while, Woody had a great game handling, and some really beautiful cuts and catches. Sean: Taking time out from his architecture studies, Sean turned in a great days work, with great running, blocking, catching, and throwing. Kemp: Great leaping grabs in the endzone for scores, and nice work in the cup and on the wings.
