Allémpo means "the way of the Állem." It is a religious outlook that seeks to utilize what we know about our universe through science in order to mould a mythology that has real meaning to our daily lives. At its heart is a profound respect and awe for nature. Indeed, the word Állem (plural Áellem) itself can be translated to mean Force(s) of Nature. These forces are the real divinity in the universe, for they are the reasons why things are the way they are and the reason why things happen the way they do.
Science has revealed many of the fundamental laws of the universe, but in many ways this knowledge does not enlighten our lives in a spiritual sense. We know for instance how cells divide, how genetic information is passed on to successive generations, how stars form and how they die, but we do not know WHY these things occur. We do not know why the universe is structured the way it is, only that it is, and given its structure, we can know how the system works.
The 'why' behind those laws are the Áellem. As human beings with minds that can only comprehend a certain amount of information, we tend to think of these larger powers in the universe as gods, and Állempo is no different. However, there is a conscious effort on our part to know that the Áellem are not beings, but are impersonal forces. We may think of them as gods, and our rituals indeed treat them as such, but this is only done for our benefit. We do not believe that the gods can be contacted through prayer, or that the gods can interfere with our lives in ways different than the way they interfere with others' lives. In other words, we cannot pray for miracles, for the laws of the universe apply to all equally, and they will not spare us if the conditions are not right for that outcome.
A text is evolving, piece by piece that attempts to relay the teachings of Állemism called the Tálos Séra, the Book of All Things.
